Frustrated with talktalk

Options
I rang the customer services this morning for my MAC code. 20 minutes later, the advisor stopped offering me services that would actually involve spending more money. She left me hanging for a further 10 minutes to generate my code but then told me it would be emailed in 5 days. Is this the usual time to obtain the code?

The Ofcom code says an ISP has up to 5 days to supply a MAC once requested.

Note: unless things have changed recently then you don't need a MAC to leave TT (if you have an LLU connection).

I wanted to leave talk talk recently but they have unbundled my line from the LLU, so I can't take my number.

Yes, you can, assuming the number was originally ported from BT. But you can't go LLU to LLU-you'll need to do a return to donor back to BT first. This is free, but requires a 12m line rental contract.
Don't believe TT's spiel, it's just an attempt to dissuade you from leaving.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    Glassannie

It can take upto 5 days for the MAC to be issued
    Toys,

Some ISP 's can complete an LLU - LLU transfer which would retain your number. Alternatively as MacMan advised you can complete a return to donor with BT.

Afaik tesco broadband which runs on C&W LLU, allows you to transfer to its full LLU package from talktalk and keep your number.
