Need help with mobile phone insurance claim decision
I have sent my Samsung Google Nexus S (I9020) for repair after it fell and the screen cracked.
The phone is currently on contract with T-Mobile and I pay £30 per month and £5 per month to the third party insurance company. When I took out the contract the phone was pretty much just new in the market 1 and half year back and it cost £535 sim free.
I have just got an email from the claims people saying they can not source a replacement phone of this model and gave me a list of four phone and I don't like any of them I mean I just was my nexus and android 4.0.
Anyway here is the list below:
We regret that we have been unable to source the same make and model of handset that you previously owned. However, we would like to offer you the choice of the following handsets
Is there anything I can do or are they offering the correct value for my phone I mean the phone do have similar features etc but its no where near the same price for them I will still have to pay out a contract repaying a £535 phone?
What can I do?

The Nexus S can be had for £294 from Amazon, might well be cheaper elsewhere.
The 2 Android phones they have offered are broadly comparable in terms of specs, although they both have a slightly smaller screen.

The Samsung Omnia W has a faster processor but less internal storage, a smaller screen and is Windows Phone not Android - http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=3620&idPhone2=4200
Blackberry again has a smaller screen, but is otherwise comparable in terms of specs - http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=3620&idPhone2=3926
I would be looking for them to give me enough money to buy a new Nexus S if they can't source one themselves. The phones you've been offered all sell for less than £220 brand new from Amazon (they will no doubt pay less than that for them) which might explain why they are trying to get you to take one of those rather than send you a Nexus S.0 -
So shall I show them that it is available on amazon and it is also available all over the place to be honest, they are acting like the phone is extinct or something.
I will phone them tomorrow and let them know its available if they don't want to buy it then give me the cash value of the phone so I can purchase it myself.
I want to be honest and say you are right about similar specs etc but overall you know the nexus s is the better phone, the list they gave no phone has NFC (Near field communications) only like a select 4 or 5 really high end phones have this and the GPU (graphics processing unit) is one the best in the Nexus S.
I feel like they are trying to rip me off here with some crappy phones seriously.0 -
