Android Live Traffic App

Thanks DUTR, that traffic widget is excellent and I hadn't noticed that one, apparently it slipped in with a Google Maps update. Gonna have a good look through the latest widgets.
INRIX looks like it may be worth a go but most of reviews seem to be from the States, have you used it? Or has anyone else?
The widget is simply called traffic, there is not much explanation though, but you enter where you wish to travel (usually a regular commute) and it will show green amber or red, or you can activate the map from it.
INRIX is good but the mapping is small (it worked better on the satio) and he only other problem is the map always shows north at he top of the screen( or at least I have not found a way to change the orientation).

I use an app called Waze for navigation.

Its pretty good for alerting me to upcoming traffic issues and re-routing.Self employed, CeMAP and DipFA.

Wish I could find that on my Galaxy S. I'm running Maps 6.9.0 and cannot see Traffic in my widget list.

EDIT: Found a suggestion to remove and reinstall Maps - now have widget.0 -
What do the traffic widget actually do? I have it on mine and it does nothing, its just a button on the home screen.
The traffic "layer" in maps just shows you green, amber and red roads but doesnt effect the route.
Just re-activated mine, in the widget name, I put the area and in the destination I put my city (Brum), then off it fetches the traffic data, at the moment mine is orange with 19m (i suspect 19minutes to bham), up pops a map with the roads that have congestion on them, double tap to zoom in.0 -
I set it up, it appears on the home screen. I press it and .... Nothing. Waste of time!
EDIT: ok got it working, GPS needs to be enabled. But all it does it show you a map with the traffic layer on, so whats the point?
It should show the map relevant to your area (or the area you input) , the point though is only useful if it is part of your journey that is affected( and you know of a rat run to avoid it).0 -
I second Waze - it's sortof social sat nav. They use their own maps, which users contribute to, and GPS traces of users, as well as user reporting, to help people find different routes. The more people use it, and the more journey, diversions that occur, the better the system will be. Google Maps for backup too though.0
