Two kids, no money, gambling, spending other peoples money.

I'm a Nationwide customer and was not affected by the double debit card error.
However, from what I've seen on their website when logging in, they appear to be "on the ball" and have moved swiftly to apologise, put things right quickly and promised to compensate those who have suffered.
I'd rather be with Nationwide than RBS...0 -
Mine not been refunded. But then, my duplicate payment taken Tues and Weds was actually for a transaction on Monday - get the feeling this is a bigger problem than Nationwide are sayingMFiT challenge #60

The following message is displayed after logging in to their online banking:
This is NOT a one off, its been happening for months, altho the cash for 2nd debit has not left my account, just prevented from using it for 7 days, resulting in missed payments and charges incurred by Nationwide not paying direct debits when money was there all along. I have reported this to them several time too!0 -
still not been refunded for the duplicate payment, and no response from NationwideMFiT challenge #60

The fact that they're reversing this so quickly suggests it was probably someone running a batch script twice and was very likely in the UK not overseas, so the same people who caused it could immediately get onto fixing the problem.
Being overseas was part of the problems with Natwest, as they firstly had to find out what the heck they'd done in India before folks in Edinburgh could fix it.
Nationwide might not be perfect, but compared to RBS / Natwest they seem a lot more customer focused and they don't make a big thing about UK call centres when they farm out the equally important stuff to India.
Edit: As a side note, I wonder if other people actually got paid twice and whether the payment could be withdrawn? Eg: if you paid X company and it came out twice, can they reverse it with the other bank?
