Maternity clothes - what's necessary? Calling all pregnancy veterans

Big knickers. Preferably modal type fabric.
They stretch over your front, don't rub the underside either during pregnancy or following a section, don't disappear off your bum cheeks if your trousers are getting a little snug/bum is broadening a bit and even if you feel like a whale, at least your undies are comfortable and not grey, crispy and embarrassing to be seen in the event of examinations.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
I bought 3 pairs of these and they are so uncomfortable I do not wear them. They sit below your bump and press on your bladder so you always feel like you need a wee, with these pressing on your bladder from one angle and the baby on another. They also keep falling down.
Perhaps they are a different style now? Mine were bought in early 2011 so they will have had several different "seasons" of stock through Newlook since then.
I wore them practically every day (when they weren't in the wash). Never had any complaints about them and still wear them occasionally now (with a belt!)
I also had a maternity hoody from Newlook - that was crap. I had to get a size bigger than usual and then once through the wash (not a hot wash either) the arms got too tight to the point where it was uncomfortable to wear.:jProud mummy to a beautiful baby girl born 22/12/11 :j0 -
I only bought two pairs of maternity jeans and then a men's hoody in XL which covered everything up, but I was lucky in that I didn't have to look smart for work and was at my largest through winter so was happy to have the extra layers of over-the-bump jeans and hoody covering anything else which didn't meet in the middle. I agree with others though - buy what you need when you need it as it's surprising how quickly your bump can grow and you can't predict the shape you will be.0

I was massive when i was pregnant, i am five foot tall and my bump was four foot round!! lived in leggings, and ex husbands xxxl football shirt, which ended up too small, daughter was nearly ten pounds. In the first weeks that i found i was pregnant, i couldnt fit in any of my jeans, my waist expanded instantly!! I thought it was twins, but just one big baby!!0

I'm 6.5 months pregnant and (luckily) still wearing my normal clothes, my bump is getting bigger but my normal clothes are still ok.
I've just got 1 pair of maternity jeans, 1 pair of work trousers and a few tops - all off eBay (cost about £15 for the lot). Once my normal clothes get too tight then I'll swap onto the maternity stuff.0 -
I was picking up bits and pieces as and when from Ebay and sales. Second pregnancy I went to peacocks only. Empire line tops are still my faves.
You only need proper massive maternity clothes at the end, by when you just want to be comfy. And comfy is much cheaper than work wear.:wall:0
