Nationwide Debit Card Duplicate Transaction

I thought exactly the same, I am OCD when it comes to budgeting, I always know what's going out, coming in and pending. This has severely wreaked havok with my compulsive nature! To make matters worse, my electric has just gone!
I wish I had £1000 paid in in the 24th, would have been nice to have that duplicated!
i had 3 credits on the 24th. of course they weren't duplicated!0 -
I have the same problem - two duplicated entries.
Nationwide phone help said that they hoped that it will be resolved by the end of today, and that any charges incurred would be refunded; they said to call them if I needed an overdfraft as a result of the duplicated payments or had any other problems.
She said that they believe the problem relates to entries on 24th and 25th July only, and that it is a "Visa" problem.
She was very helpful, and as it happens I have enough money in the account to cover their mistake, but I bet many don't have. I hope Nationwide stands by them.0 -
UPDATE
Just spoken with my branch in romford and they have told me to go down to branch and they can force the withdrawal through so i can have my 700 that went in this morning. will post again once i actually have the money.0 -
Got the 700 no problems0
-
been to the branch, and theres very little they could do for me - asked for an overdraft - they couldnt do it although they could force through cash for me but told them that that was no use to me as i wanted to make online bill payments. in the end all i got was an apology, but thats not gunna pay my online bills is it...
Was told that it would be resolved today .. hopefull.. but cant guarentee it........ bloody useless0 -
Our bank account has had £200 MISSING, we are with NATIONWIDE - All payments made on 24th were duplicated on the 25th - The problem is with VISA - check your bank statement if this has happened that's what is wrong. Apparently VISA are hoping to have it rectified by end of day today so advise people to keep checking their accounts. Any charges you may get from this if you had direct debits due out etc will also be refunded.0

Hi guys/gals,
I had this exact same problem, it is a problem with Visa themselves, if you need to call Nationwide use this number
0800 30 20 10
They said they hope the issue is resolved by the end of the day,
I hope this is true as I am now overdrawn with Tax Credits going in tomorrow and my loan payment due to go out :S
I am scared I will get bombarded with charges from the loan company and Nationwide, the lady said as it's through no fault of ours we wont be inclined to pay any charges with Nationwide, lets hope Visa will cover any late payment fees accrued with bills not paid eh!0 -
Does anyone know when this is going to be sorted? I have paid £412 rent and £101 council tax,Plus shoppin at sports direct Twice on the 24th and duplicated on 25th. I ran the bank and they past the book sayin it was a visa problem and not a nationwide problem,Although only nationwide seem to b effected. I asked about bank charges,They assured us all charges will b covered by the bank as they can see the money was infact there to pay bills. But cant really get a straight answer regarding money being returned to my account. Alls i got was its not a nationwide problem therefore they cant guarentee when the money be returned. Has anybody had any better answers.0

Had the same problem as everyone else two debit card transactions from the 23rd (Monday) paid out on the 24th and then duplicated on the 25th. Called Nationwide @ approx 8:30 am and told same story 'should be fixed by end of the day' Wasn't happy asked to speak to a supervisor, he did not know if the Visa problem was isolated to Nationwide, I asked him to get Nationwide to put up a message on the internet banking, he said yes good idea, but they haven't done it!!
If MSE Moderators read this can they advise if the media has been told of this !!!! up and it probably affects millions of Nationwide customers? Nothing (as of yet) on BBC news website.
Nationwide should come clean and make an announcement so all their customers are be aware. They seem to be playing a game of 'keep it quiet'0 -

It is on BBC:
bbc.co.uk/news/business-18999135
And it is on Nationwide's website:
nationwide.co.uk/contact_us/service_availability/service_availability.htm?id=3
Apparently i'm not allowed to post links, so you will have to copy and paste.
*EDIT* UPDATE
'Duplicated transactions will be corrected overnight. Any charges will be refunded in full.'
