Nationwide Debit Card Duplicate Transaction

Hi

Just checked my online banking this morning and found that i have been charged twice for two different transactions,

One is a Paypal payment and the other was for petrol at a garage

It has put me in an unauthorized overdraft

Anyone got this problem

  • yes, same problem. all outgoing visa transactions for the 24th have been duplicated on the 25th, taking me into unauthorised overdraft.
The nationwide phone lines are v.busy and not prepared to wait and pay for a long call for their mistake so shall be calling into branch later.
    It's just not good enough...

OMG!! I just had the same problem. Paid a bill via the Faster Payment Service on 24th July, same amount went out via a Visa payment on 25th July!!! I kept looking at it because I thought i was going mad .
I just didn't expect Nationwide to have the same problem as the rest of the banks - Don't know why coz they're all the same aren't they, all rely on Dumb Computers.
This puts me in a really awkward position now and I'm really cross, but I'm guessing their phone lines are going to be VERY busy if it's a bigger problem than just my little account. Which means I'm going to have to waste over an hour driving into town to attend the bank.

Exactly same problem 2 transactions have been duplicated which has put me 1000 in the red and this is after through.overdtaft swallowed up a 700 credit i got this.morning. left me with no money. this is not good enough! I can't get.to work now.
  • Hi guys/gals,

I had this exact same problem, it is a problem with Visa themselves, if you need to call Nationwide use this number

    0800 30 20 10

They said they hope the issue is resolved by the end of the day,
I hope this is true as I am now overdrawn with Tax Credits going in tomorrow and my loan payment due to go out :S

I am scared I will get bombarded with charges from the loan company and Nationwide, the lady said as it's through no fault of ours we wont be inclined to pay any charges with Nationwide, lets hope Visa will cover any late payment fees accrued with bills not paid eh!

End of the day????? That's not good enough. i need my money now.
  • There will be no point going to the branch either as it's nothing to do with nationwide, so if you do live an hour away save your petrol!

I feel the same, end of the day is not quick enough, I have a baby who needs food and nappies so I have the displeasure of asking people to borrow money now.

Don't know why we bother using cards

Nationwide cards only effected, logic dictates it must have 'something' to do with Nationwide
  • Just rang up as this has happened to me on three separate transactions - I have budgeted completely for this month and was sat looking at my balance thinking 'that can't be right?!?!' until I went into the statement.

The woman I spoke to said check back on their website/online banking at 10am as they have an update or something then. Its not a great situation but the woman I spoke to couldn't have been more helpful, and apologetic which was nice.
  • I thought exactly the same, I am OCD when it comes to budgeting, I always know what's going out, coming in and pending. This has severely wreaked havok with my compulsive nature! To make matters worse, my electric has just gone!

I wish I had £1000 paid in in the 24th, would have been nice to have that duplicated!
