yorks water 50% increase

Just got my water bill from Yorks water for 2007 and its showing a 50% increase on last year. i moved into this rented accomodation in nov 2006 (landlord says no to meter) so I pay the 63.00 bill I was issued to cover to april this year. Then lo and behold a bill now for 98.00 plus a further 98 in Oct.

I think this is a bit steep for something that falls out the sky for nothing.

I think that you a reading something wrong here cos my water bill has not gone up 50% and thats yorkshire water.
My total bill sewage and water has only gone up 16%.
If you moved into the accomodation in november the £63 was for half the year was it not ????
Approx £161.00 for the year for water only sounds about right to me

Yorkshire Water bills for 2007/2008 have gone up by between 7% to 8% see:

    http://www.ofwat.gov.uk/aptrix/ofwat/publish.nsf/AttachmentsByTitle/household_charges2007-08_yky.doc/$FILE/household_charges2007-08_yky.doc

So the bill for a full year in 2006/2007 would have been approx £180(£90 for 6 month period)

If you moved in during Nov it will be between 4 and 5 months(depending on the date in Nov) to 01 April 07 so £63 would be right if you moved in about the last week of Nov

Try telling some of the posters on here that less than £200 is a lot for "something that falls out of the sky for nothing"
    Lots pay double that.

It costs money to clean and get the water to your property and to take the sewage away and to maintain the network
