Signature Help

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, but I need advice about my signature.

When I click on the link to edit my signature, the text box is full of open and closed brackets, the colours are all written out in text i.e. Black, Blue etc. It didn't used to look like this - it used to look like my signature does at the end of my posts.

Is there a way to get rid of all the text and brackets? It makes editing my signature difficult as it takes a while to fish out the areas that I need to change i.e. mortgage amount, month etc?

Any advice is welcome. I have not knowingly changed any settings and have no idea why it looks so different.

Have you accidentally switched Editor mode, so that you are now seeing the coding that defines the layout, colours etc?

When you edit your Signature, there's a little button just above the smilies box to the right with an A/A symbol. Click on that and see if it removes your brackets etc. (That button toggles the visibility of the coding)

I clicked the 'A/A' button and it says 'remove text formatting' but the brackets and coding are still there. Can't seem to get rid of them, despite pressing the button numerous times.

Hmmmm. Do you see any of the same type of brackets/code when you write a response to this thread? How about if you change font colour when responding?

(I'm grasping at straws here in the hope that someone with far more knowledge will come along shortly!)

No. I don't see any of the brackets/codes when I am responding, but in your previous post, your 'A/A' looked something like this for me: [A] [/] [A] etc.

Have you changed the browser you use recently?

Some do not support the advanced editing interface on here, so you just get the raw formatting code displayed when you post/edit anything.

If not, then also go to Edit Options and check to make sure this is selected.

Also, as said, if your browser supported the enhanced interface, you can switch it when viewing the posting box.

BUT, make sure you get the correct button.

    There are 2 very similar.

You need to click this one.

    Hi

Just checked my settings and it is already on the Enhanced interface. I did change to Google Chrome a few weeks ago and has been doing this since then.

Also, I haven't got those buttons 'to the right' of the page i.e. A/A - they are not on my screen! But I do have the two Blue A's to the left.

    That is probably it then

Google Chrome does not seem to support the enhanced interface by default, even if you set it in your options.

There is this Chrome extension that seems to work though, to give support.

    You could try installing that?

    Thank you :j

I installed the above link and it is now back to normal. No more having to strain my eyes when editing my signature and doesn't take me as long as I don't have to decipher all the text.
