Pushchair for toddler?

We've got a Maclaren (not sure of the model tho, as it's in the car) for my 6-year old son, and it's great. My son is small for his age, (99cm tall and 16kgs) but the buggy is sturdy, and has taken a lot of abuse. Due to my sons health problems, we use the buggy quite a bit, and it's fine.0

Right ok I am off to ebay, going to do a search and see what comes up. If not then I will be looking more closely at the zapp and maclaren's. I appreciate your input and advice here, thank you.0

I have to go with the other maclaren suggestions..my DS is 2.5 but tall for his age and I am also tall at 5'9 and found the 2011 maclaren XT to be fabulous..the seat is big enough for my DS to have enough room (whereas some other models he was stuffed in the seat lol) and the handles are adjustable so its great for my to push, OH whos 6'2 to push and my 4ft 11 DS1 to push..I paid £100 for mine off ebay a year ago and still use it now and then Baby number 3 is due in Jan so will re-use it for that Baby when needed too..so well worth the price. She has the loaded handbag of someone who camps out and seldom goes home, or who imagines life must be full of emergencies..0

My 3 year old still uses the Maclaren that I got for his sister. (Tbh, she wishes I'd let her sit in it sometimes! She still fits it at 5 years old.) They certainly withstand a lot of damage - going strong for at least 4 years now.
I second the notion that it is very convenient when your child insists on falling asleep. Even when they are walking, you can dump all your bags on the stroller and save your arms.
If he's a very small 3 year old, then you might be able to manage with just a sling. But if he's quite sturdy, there's a lot of walking/uphill walking or he takes a lot of naps then a stroller would be very worthwhile. Particularly if he's prone to "wandering off" i.e. running faster than lightning - reins or holding hands is all very well but you need both hands sometimes... and a break!0 -
We have a babyjogger city mini for travelling. It is still going strong for its second user despite the best attempts by bagage handlers at several airports! :rotfl: It is very convenient for going through security as you just pull the handle and it is flat in an instant. Also its sun canopy is amazing when you are dealing with a sleeping child in the sunshine. It is a US puschair so its seating area is much more accomodating than most european models. Our four year old who is considerably taller than average recently sat in it and looked absolutely tiny! :rotfl:
If this style of pushchair interests you it may be worth looking on ebay or gumtree as they have now launched a four wheel model so lots of the older style 3 wheelers are selling very cheaply. As the whole fabric seat unit can be easily machine washed and the frame hosed down making it as clean as when new this may be a good option.0 -
I've got a Maclaren techno XT, which is fabulous! It's been hammered (used a LOT I mean) and it still looks brand new.
My little one is 3, but wil be almost 4 when we go away next year so I doubt we'd use it again as he won't go in it now.
I'm meant to be selling it this evening funnily enough!Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
I owned a Maclaren Quest and it survived an absolute hammering of daily use. Only thing that ever broke was the brake, and that was due to a babysitter kicking it!0

Just as an update... I attempted numerous bids on ebay for Maclaren's but they were going for £30-£40 2nd / 3rd hand so made the decision to buy a new one for £60, get the guarantee and then ebay it next year when he's grown out of it. Went for the entry level Volo, it's not an everyday buggy as my DS walks a lot, just for big shopping trips / holidays / days out when he gets tired.
Thank you all for your input.0
