Get the aqua with 3% cashback.

Another +1 for Aqua. Why get 1% on your shopping at Asda when you can get 3% on everything?

Does anyone else find it extremely irritating when someone's post consists of merely one word, which is... "This"?

so how do you get the history if no one will give you a card? id agree a low limit, £500, would be a start.

its daft you have to get unnessacary credit while your younger so you can get credit when you need it.

shes been punished for not needing credit while shes younger and managing her finances well.

Absolute rubbish - she is NOT being "punished". Why do people always insist that if a company doesn't give them anything they want, they are being "punished" over it...

What is "daft" is that you expect credit card companies to just hand out cashback cards to people with no evidence that they'll pay it back. I take it you've been hiding under a rock for the last few years, with all the banks getting into trouble for lending to such people and then losing millions of pounds?

And while she clearly hasn't managed her finances at all badly, I'd say the fact she's getting declined for credit cards indicates that it hasn't been managed especially "well". If she had got the sub-prime cards back when she was 18 and started working her way up, she most likely would have been accepted for that Asda card immediately. That's exactly what I did, and without paying a penny in interest, I had a variety of cashback cards by age 20. (I apologise if that looks like I'm trying to rub it in or anything, I'm just giving an example of how the finances could have been managed better).

i havnt been hiding under a stone and saying the other half is 'such people that have lost them millions' is insulting. she hasnt needed
any credit, hence the reason she cant get one.

and to say that at 23 you havnt managed your fiances well if u DIDNT need credit at any stage is poor. the fact shes worked hard and saved money and not spent money she hasnt got as been a bad thing............THATS the reason the banks are down the pan as people spent money they didnt have.

I said no such thing... I said people with her credit profile are the kind of people who lost the banks millions. For all I know, your other half could voluntarily donate money to banks because she feels they deserve extra!

I didn't NEED credit either, but I did the sensible thing and built my credit rating up BEFORE I needed the credit, instead of suddenly needing it and finding out I can't get it. Aged 21 with a lower income than your other half, I'm now able to get premium cards like Tesco, Halifax Clarity, Nationwide Select etc. with little hassle.

Your other half can't even get an ASDA credit card - I think that proves my belief that she hasn't managed her finances as well as she could have. (As I very clearly stated in the previous post, that by no means mean that she managed it badly).

I'd certainly agree with that. Someone who manages their finances well makes use of the interest free period on credit cards and collects the cashback.

Requiring credit is not the only reason to acquire a credit card.
