Basement flat repossessed & the bank have turned off the water to the whole building!

Having an absolute nightmare!

Noticed this afternoon that I had no water, baby got up, sorted him out and I went to ask the neighbours, upstairs were in and have no water either.

The basement flat was repossessed earlier today and they seem to have shut the water off :(

By the time I'd realised, got hold of thames water, they'd checked stuff out and then got a chance again to phone barclays their repossessions dept and the company who deal with properties that have been repo'd had just closed!!

Can't get hold of my landlord to try to get the old landlord for downstairs, this is an absolute nightmare!

Any ideas who I can try and get in touch with??

I have a 6 month old who just had a baby wipe bath :mad::mad::mad:

Might be worth checking for a stoptap outside.

When you say Thames Water have checked things out, have they actually visited the property? It's going to be turned off at either a) external stop tap in the street or b) internal (isv) stop tap which is in the basement flat.

Sounds like the property has been converted into flats and whoever turned off the water didn't realize it was controlling the whole building.

If you can't get hold of your LLord then get back to Thames Water. See if they can get an emergency technition out to check the outside stop valve.

If you have no water they should be able to check their valve on the pavement.

Or have you a neighbour who does diy who may have a "key" to the external valve. You can buy them in diy shops so someone around may have one.

Yes, Thames Water checked out the outside valve and it's turned on.

It's definetely the valve in the basement flat.

    Is it still off now?

I'm afraid it's going to be down to your landlord to get into the basement flat and get it back on again.

If you can't get hold of him see if the council can help - I've know in the past the council turn up with the police and break into a downstairs flat and get the water on.

Mind you that was a large block of several flats but that's probably who to start with if you still can't get hold of the landlord.
