Guys,. can someone please tell me if i can avoid paying for this ticket. Along story short, my wife just gave birth and when she was driving home oneparticular day, she felt very dizzy and had the baby with her, so she stoppedand pulled over. She called me to come and get her and it happens that the paceshe stopped was a taxi rank.
Honestly, I do think she did the senisble thing, but a tickert we havenonetheless. Pictures of thr PCN, and parking area attached!! Any advice wouldbe great.

I'd suggest an informal appeal, to give the council the chance to say whether or not they'd have preferred for your wife to have passed out at the wheel of a moving car with your baby on board.
Perhaps Sam would care to answer that question as well. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
I agree with Stephen. Normally, I would think it was wrong to park in the rank, but in a medical emergency, with the potential for serious injury there is no problem.
Sam, that was one of the worst pieces of advice I have seen on these boards.0 -
Well Stephen, the Op says his wife had just given birth but then goes on to say she felt dizzy and had the baby with her, if she had 'just' given birth while she was in the taxi rank, i think she could use that as an excuse and she might have a chance on getting the ticket cancelled. But i think she has little or no chance of getting off with the fine when it's only a case of ....... sick woman parks on a taxi rank and she has her baby sitting in the car. That would leave it open for everyone to park on taxi ranks, you just need to say you're sick if you get caught.
Op how long was the rank ? Lets say about 10yds, maybe more maybe less, no matter how dizzy she felt couldn't she have stopped a few yards before it or after it. If the taxi drivers had seen she was really in distress they would have helped her to move her car to a safe place.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

We see a lot of perfect self-righteous people on here, who have never had any kind of medical situation that would require them to stop driving, and hence they've never fallen foul of any kind of parking contravention, because, essentially, the sun shines out of their posterior.
The thing that amazes me even more, is that they are posters with thousands of legitimate posts on here.
What sort of self righteous look-down-your-nose-at-an-inferior-pleb type of advice do they post on the other forums on here.
My mind boggles.
@ d7r7w7, ignore SailorSam, and follow the advice of the sensible people on here instead. Try an informal appeal and then if that fails come back to see if there are any other potential avenues for appeal.Je Suis Cecil.0 -

So what you're really saying is only follow the advice that you want to hear.
I've been a taxi driver. I've had to put up with inconsiderate drivers parking on ranks and stopping us from working.
If the woman was really so ill she would have slammed her brakes on and left the car in the middle of the road.
If the woman was really ill the taxi drivers or the traffic warden would have helped her.
Two sides to every story, perhaps she was one of these drivers that park where she wants to, and to hell with the rest of you.
If your wife was really ill and you get off with the fine, i'm glad for you. But my advice whether you want to hear it or not is, don't hold your breath.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

That's not what I'm saying at all, and you know it.
You've made an awful lot of assumptions of what happened in this scenario - how long the rank was, whether there was sufficient places to stop either side, that there would have been taxi drivers around to help her move her car (heaven forfend that they should miss a 'fare' while this woman was having the temerity to be ill), and so on.
But hey, you've been a taxi driver, you know the score, sod these people and their illnesses parking in our ranks, they deserve to be clobbered at all times.
Please do carry on.Je Suis Cecil.0 -

If i'm making assumptions come back and give us all some more details. Are you trying to say your wife was inside the car in pain and a thoughtless traffic warden ignored her.
Most people want to help people that are in trouble, that includes taxi drivers and traffic wardens, why didn't they.
You're story seems far fetched, i think you've got a ticket and now you're looking for a way out.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
