LLoyds Bank Delaying claims ?

Ayup All...
Eight weeks ago, I put in a claim for PPI on a series of Loans from LLoyds Bank, from many years ago, but which I am still paying back.
I did this after having a letter from them saying that any PPI deemed payable for a Credit Card I had had off them many years ago, from the same terrible period, and am also still paying off, would not be paid to me, but toward the Account arrears. As they have changed the T&Cs for Credit Cards.
Now, I had a letter last week (7th week anniversary of claim) telling me that I will be waiting for up to ANOTHER 8 Weeks, because of LLoyds not being to deal with the alleged Avalanche of claims against them, and not having enuff staff. Although they say they are apparently working on them as hard as possible.
Now, what I'd like to ask is, has anyone else recieved this Letter ? If LLoyds were snowed under 7 weeks ago, and couldn't cope, why should we expect them to be suddenly able to deal with them and subsequent claims now ? how long will this process take ? And will they eventually change the Loan T&Cs to the same as for a Credit Card ?
A pamphlet about making a complaint via the finincial Ombudsman service was included with my letter, and I took the leaflets first recommendation in respect to making one, contacting LLoyds and asking the Questions above. All the Man on the phone did was keep apologising and waffling, as I registered my complaint, and pointing me toward the Pamphlet, but this is surely Unacceptable as some of the Ads on TV would have us bellieve that it can take as little as 3 weeks to make and complete a Claim ? I dealt direct with LLoyds as I don't want a third party to take a large chunk of my Compensation, but have found the staff at LLoyds on the Telephone to be very difficult to understand, being foreigners with bad english it would seem, and even worser telephone lines, and to deny knowledge of any of my accounts and the like until I presented them with Account numbers ! Is this an attempt by LLoyds to put people off does anyone think ? or wait long enuff to be able to change the T&Cs for Loans, and keep the money themselves ?
I'll bet most of you can guess what I think. I gave LLoyds a two-week Ultimatum about advancing my claim, saying that I will indeed contact the Financial Ombudsman in two weeks if it is still in Abeyance then. I think this is a terrible state of affairs again from the Banks. Thankyou for reading if you got this far. What does anyone else think ?

Hi Everyone
I have just put my ppi complaint in with lloyds 10 days ago and have only received an acknowledge letter however.....
My work colleague has had complaints upheld for 2 lloyds loans from 1995 & 1998. It took 14 days from his first call to money in his account( he's still with lloyds)
He called the ppi number wasn't happy with lloyds saying he'd have to wait etc etc so he called the FOS and then 14 days later he got his money back.
I'm resigned to at least 16 wks but I wanted to give everyone a bit of hope0
