Powakaddy and Warranty

In November 2010 I purchased a Powakadddy Freeway 2 Electric Golf Trolley from American Golf paying by Credit card a sum of approx. £300.( 2 Year Warranty) Due to the weather it first was used in March 2011 and after 4 rounds the Gear Box shattered which was replaced under warranty.
This month the Trolley all of a sudden ground to a halt and the computer type screen changed to a strange colour. As per Powakaddy policy I took the Trolley to their local Repair centre. They contacted me later that day and informed me the screen was cracked and either I had used it on rough ground? or hit the screen with some object and refused to carry out any warranty repairs.I collected the Trolley back and contacted Powakaddy who replied that
I believe *** have explained that the damage caused to the screen is not covered under warranty, therefore a charge would be incurred for the repair.
Unfortunately this is not a fault on production, as it would have been visible when first receiving the trolley.
I am sorry that I am unable to help you further in this matter.
It should be noted that I had to contact Powakaddy a number of times to get them to even reply. I am aware that Powakaddy have stopped producing this Model due to the number of problems. I have attempted to contact Powakaddy by email since on numerous occasions but they simply ignore my contacts.

To take it further under SOGA you now need to prove you didn't crack the screen, you will need an engineers report to state this and the reason for it being cracked. You can google the model number to see if it is a common problem, if so you have a better chance of success. If it turns out to be rare, you will struggle and just have to accept your going to need to pay for the repair. It is possible it has taken a knock somewhere down the line, I know mine has.
P.s the manufacture has no more reason to do anything about this, you now need to deal direct with the retailer.0 -

Again thanks for that it was a Powakaddy authorised Repairer who made the decision owner abuse. There are numerous complaints of the the screen suffering from condensation and going blank but not cracking. I would not mind but Powakaddy have not even offered to examine it before taking the decision.0 -
My latest update is that I have examined the screen myself there are at leat 7 cracks all starting from the top of the screen. The plastic cover that you view the interior screen from shows no signs of damage at all.
I have shown a photo to another Powakaddy Agent who states they agree that this is not owner abuse but as for Powakaddy agreeing is another thing. They very kindly have asked for the part to be sent to them ( they are supplying a replacement at a cost of £40) and they will communicate with them, but again they state do not expect much.
To remove the part took me a novice 15 minutes.:T0
