I disclosed my new job to working tax credits 2 weeks ago and I started on the 6th June, they advised that after the "4 week run on period" which took me to 24th may i wasnt entitled to any tax credits from then until the 6th June when I started my new job.
Do I still send in my renewal form?
What do I do now to get my tax credits back?
Thanks in advance :j

It was 26th April, with the 4 week run on period would take it to the 24th may and I started my new job on 6th June so that would be a couple of weeks that I should have got paid from tax credits
Should i send in my renewal? as i cant get through to anyone on the helpline anyway0 -
Yes in short. Still complete your renewal. No One I Think Is In My Tree.:cool:0

Will I have to do anything else after i have completed my renewal or will the tax office sort out any overpayment i have recieved and deduct that from any future payments?
Also i have over-estimated my income for the last tax year by £3000 so will they owe me anything back? If so how and when will i get that?0 -
Sorry for lateness in reply.
You dont need to do anything else other than ring/fill in and complete your renewal. When they details are processed a new calculation will be done for you based on your info provided and you will be advised how the potential overpayment will be dealt with. From there, you can ring to discuss that if its of any concern at all.
Over estimating is a smart thing to do in that if you over estimate, at the end of the year, you more often than not receive a one off payment based on your actual inc compared to the est you provided. These are paid after the renewal info has been finialised. Normall around 4 weeks after renewal date :-) HTHNo One I Think Is In My Tree.:cool:0 -

Depends really on whether you are only claiming working tax credit or get CTC as well?
If you are WTC only, then your claim will have ended on 26th May and you will have to make a fresh claim from 6th June (by ringing the helpline for a claim form) because the gap between the jobs was more than 7 days.
If you are getting child tax credits as well, there is no problem, WTC will be added back from 6th June.
You will need to complete the renewal form either way.
The overpayment will stand if it has been caused by your failure to notify late of the change in job.

HMRC have said that there is a 4 week run on period after a job has ended so it will take me up to the 24th may they advised so that means from the 24th may to 6th june will be an overpayment, but I over-estimated my tax credits last year anyway by £3000 so will they just take the overpayment from what they owe me after over estimating?
When i have filled the renewal in will i also have to fill in a new claim form as well? or will they sort it out from my renewal as they have my new job info now anyway.
One more thing: I am currently filling in my renewal but I dont have my JSA figures for 2010-2011, can i still send off my renewal and tell them the actual JSA figures later?0 -
Depends - is it a WTC only claim or WTC and child tax credit?

Well if it is WTC only, your claim should have ended on 24th May. There is an overpayment from 24th May to 6th June.
You will need to complete your renewal (which will be the claim to cover the period from 6th April to 24th May as well as finalising 11/12)
You will then need to make a brand new claim now, but it will only be backdated 1 month from when HMRC receive the form. So there might be a gap.
Before you do all of that, you need to check with the helpline that your claim has fully ended. That is how the process should go, doesn't always mean that the helpline have ended it correctly though.
