Does a mortgage not have to be on a property Butti? Or do you mean buy something new?

I intend to buy something down here. She just meant I would be in a better position if I wasn't coming to it anew.

Think your quiz friend might be a bit confused.
You can't keep the same mortgage on after you sell - it's secured on the property, and the lender won't release their security unless the mortgage is repaid, and if they're not going to release the security, you can't sell it.
They won't release their security while you still owe them money, unless you only owe a small amount and they're prepared to convert it into an unsecured loan.
The person that said it may just mean that you should keep your mortgage with the same provider, as you have a track record of paying it with them? They'd only give you an 'agreement in principle' until you actually buy something though, not the actual money. A track record of paying the mortgage on time is definitely helpful, and your existing lender will be able to see whether or not you pay reliably, but you can prove the same to another lender by way of mortgage statements, which in all likelihood they will ask for anyway, as part of their application process.
It'd be nice if they did just let you keep the money mind you, so you could effectively be a cash buyer.I'm a Money and Debt Adviser for a homelessness and housing charity in Scotland. So where am I in my journey.
At the moment it feels like hurtling towards a situation in which I am waiting for Kharma to join the dots. I have four days in which to declutter, sort, paint and start repairing a hoose. On the fifth day I shall move about 170 miles away and start a new job on the seventh. As the kharmic quote is from Steve Jobs I am kinda hoping for divine intervention from him in helping join the dots. C'mon Steve.
Anyway having tired of living the high life on benefits:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:I am getting a job. A real permanant job down south where I am led to believe they still have jobs.
So I was looking back over the diary as we have nearly been in my job for a year - 30th July (Really I just wanted to check when the MOT was due - 27th July).
I think the idea was for me to have let the house in February :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: That went well didn't it.
Now have it up with an agent. The first two weeks on Right Move are crucial so they tell me. Well the first two weeks have been and gone with no viewings and as a friend who's an agent in the Midlands told me, August will be really quiet. Looking back from a year ago the house was supposed to be sorted by now. It's a bloody good job I can't see into the future. I really hope I haven't picked a dud agent. WORRY....WORRY....WORRY. I guess we just come up and clean and sort and try not to look too far into the future. If I have made the house look beautiful and it's on Right Move I don't know how much more I can do.:A
Well I guess I just carry on. Is this like a bad film 'Carry on up the sh*t'.
Snagggles if I had a payment holiday or a reduced payment period (say interest only - assuming the bank would even give it to me) would it count against me when in say 6months/8months time I went for a mortgage. Is there a box to say 'I moved 140 miles and was keeping two properties afloat' or do they just look at it and baulk.
I guess today I am quite stressed. A few difficult months ahead hopefully with a house sale at some point (Please God (you and I both know I don't believe in you...but...) give me a break!)
...and this afternoon we go and see Daddy.:j:j:j
Hardly....shame they haven't got these upside down where you are banging your head on the floor. I shall stick to 'I' statement;- I don't like confrontation
- I don't like being talked to like a 4 year old
- I am quite stressed
- I am even more stressed when you pile on pressure to pay you back
- I don't have any money to pay you back
- I won't have any money to pay you back until I have sold or let the house.
- I am selective in what I tell you because anything I say may be taken in evidence and used against me.
Right, this isn't getting the lounge hoovered or the paint touched up.
Better go.

See...sometimes I wonder why I get stressed.
Went to see my dad and he wasn't there! :rotfl:
So went to my auntie's and got a cup of tea and fed. Need to go round and see a friend of her's tomorrow (probably for another cup of tea!). She lives round the corner from work and therefore 150 miles from my auntie...then I am to report back on how well she is.
Just checked car insurance on comparison site no. 1. Came out at £233 which for fully comp with business use and after an accident 4 years ago and 3 speeding points about two months ago wasn't bad. Have to work out the budget tonight which should be fun.
MOT to do this month aswell
Annual review next month where I will discuss the state of my car (roadworthyness rather than how many piles of clothes and old sandwiches there are in it). The company is no longer doing company cars and is doing car loans (kinda irrelevent when you haven't the money to pay it back! :rotfl:) for people who are relocating to the West Midlands. Wonder what they will be able to offer me with my car with 120k on the clock given that they don't like setting precedents.
Think it will be a fairly serious conversation as at some point the sheer decrepidness of the car (bless it, it has served me well) will interfere with my ability to do the job.
Right better get on.
Thanks for your words of comfort Beanie and all others.
Catch you later,

Can't get used to my workplace. Think 17 years in Local Government has hard wired me to expect a blame culture and to not expect support from my managers.
Had an email from another section about setting up a procedure but in it they had a pop about a property I'd handed over the previous day. It was written by a manager who wasn't there, copied to my manager and had a number of inaccuracies in it that all reflected badly on me and well on her officers.
I sent a fairly shirty one back (how unlike me eh?) and then stressed about whether I should have sent it.
I pointed out that I didn't like it being copied to my manager before she discussed it with me and how difficult it was to hand over renovated rather than new properties at one day's notice and to officers who expect it to the standard of new ones...and that it is only my 8th property handed over.
My boss called me in today to tell me "Well said" and "You stand up for yourself".
The other manager suggested next time I ring her up. That is all very well but it means we have a private conversation whilst her email dissing of me is still out there.
Great to have the support of your managers.Debt LBM (08/09) £11,641. DEBT FREE APRIL 2021.

Nice one on the manager ... Is it not appropriate though to reply in the way you were addressed ? Ie they email you you email them, they text you you text them ?0
