Absolutely. If he falls out of bed/needs bedding changed/help to the toilet and it is over the 35 hours then tough! He'll have to wait until the new week starts.

Or until they change the criteria to 35 and a half hours! ;)

Have any of you pedants got a clue how much caring actually 'costs, in terms of mental health, and 'actually', who put you in the place of being in judgement on this forum?

What relevance does that have to this thread? If you are not coping, you should contact SS.

Actually, several of us who've commented actually are carers!

We also have memories and can read, which makes us aware of the fact that the OP has been asking for ways she can get off JSA and avoid the Work Programme for many months.

As it's the benefits forum that's exactly the sort of information people should be providing instead of nonsense posts.

    hello.
I wonder if someone can help me.
I'm trying to find out would I need to sign off of JSA in order to claim Carer's Allowance as my dad is severely disabled . I hope you can help? . thanks . :)

Are you aware that your father may lose some of his benefits if someone claims CA for him?

You can look after your relative.

Don't worry about it. I work and still do so.

Just takes a bit of juggling to easily possible - you can still claim JSA and look for work around this.
  • If you get carers you do not have to be on JSA! You can still claim IS to make up the difference. It is worth checking what other than DLA your dad gets because if he gets some of the additional disability premiums he will lose them if he has a carer

I think the OP is well aware of that.
