Sorry but I'm not telepathic

Nice start to the day, got a negative for an item not received. No prior contact from buyer, just a negative.

Have written an apologetic note and refunded in full. I've sent a feedback revision request, but don't hold out much hope. It's so annoying as my only other negative (again no prior contact) was about to drop off my account.

What is wrong with these buyers ? I really wish Ebay would prevent them leaving a negative before contacting the seller.

Charlie's_mum, I hope the revision request is accepted. I always hate it when buyers are too dim to understand that they should contact the seller first as any decent seller will refund.

I suspect there are still too many sellers out there though that would try and refuse a refund, so maybe in the past the buyer has come across one of those and thinks we are all as bad.

I think we get a distorted view on here about sellers, most of us seem to accept our responsibilities and would not hesitate to refund after a suitable period. It always amazes me when you read other threads on other boards, or even the community boards sometimes where a seller is patted on the back re assuringly and told categorically that there is no way on earth he should refund for a lost item and ebay/paypal would confirm that because they are a private seller/ buyer didn't take insurance/ they are only a stay at home mum / there is an R in the month (add further reasons for not refunding at will).

Had a chat with Ebay CS and they said give it a few days, and if no contact from the buyer, give them a call back.

The buyer has very low feedback, and the CS rep thought they may not fully understand the procedure, so fingers crossed I might get it removed.

I feel for you! a negative for a lost item seems very unfair, particularly as there was no chance for you to do anything about it!
Can a negative feedback also have low stars?
I have yet to receive a neg/neutral and thank every day that I don't!

I assume the buyer will be able to leave star ratings, but how she can rate something she hasn't received I've no idea. If she has dinged my stars someone will need to scrape me off the ceiling :rotfl:

Would you have a link to such a thread?

Google eBay forum - that should just about do it.

Seller Central is not so bad (the official eBay board, http://community.ebay.co.uk/forum/Seller-Central/7); most of the regulars are very knowledgeable, and there are one or two people who know consumer law and the Paypal system inside out and back to front. There, however, are acres of forums out there where sellers discuss the best way to fleece their buyers. I came here because it was one of the oases where people did actually know their proper responsibilities as sellers.

  • I find it funny how so many low feedback users have delivery issues,

It's always worth checking the address via Royal Mail and if fine, then by the buyer (in case they've moved), before refunding.

I found this on seller central. It's in response to a seller saying that their buyer is claiming INR.
<deleted>.... try this with your difficult buyer:

''Well, I've just checked with the Post Office, and I was glad to be told that your item has now arrived.... Many thanks for your custom''.

Just pretend that you know it's arrived, and you might never hear from him again....

    Sometimes it works....

If he insists that he 'hasn't received it' keep playing the game.... ''are you sure it hasn't arrived, because the postmen are telling me that they've delivered it'' etc etc.

If he still insists, you can say in the end ''oh sorry, i mixed up the buyers, that was meant for another person'' and get out of it.

But I have to say, if he's a professional scammer, he won't fall for it.

If he's an amateur scammer, he might do.

    You just have to try!

And this post seems to assume that the buyer is a "scammer".
