Yodel claims package delivered, but I haven't received it

This has happened to me now. And what makes it worse is that it was a package bought by an overseas family member who had it sent to me. Yodel's tracking site says that the item was delivered at 4pm, though this information didn't appear on the site until after 8pm.
And of course we don't have it.:mad::mad:
The Yodel site says that if I have a contract number I can obtain "proof of delivery". I wonder what that would be as I don't have the package.

They are useless, I had a parcel deliverd by them ( or rather didnt) they had an address ( my work address)which was on the parcel itself but because the computer had my home address on they tried 3 times to dleiver it there despite phone calls every night trying to sort it out eventually they returned it to sender as un deliverable. The supervisor i spoke to tried to blame the llanelli deport saying they were a very bad depot and the company was in the process of getting rid of the dead wood. How unproffessional they can only do what their management structure tells them to perhaps it was the managers who needed to be got rid of!0

If you can find yuor local depot number on Google or saynoto0870 give them a ring and they'll interview the driver and get back to you.In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0

I have the depot number, but since it was my sister overseas that ordered the package I've asked her first before phoning.
After I actually received good service from another courier, I started thinking that maybe the "courier nightmare" was a thing of the past or that could be avoided. Stupid of me.
An annoying thing is that my sister is a journalist who writes a consumer column, but not in the UK! If she was in the UK then at least there would be the possibility of some bad publicity for Yodel.0 -
I must say I'm shocked - the only experience I've had with Yodel was returning two broken Kindles and they were bang on the money each time.
Then I started reading all this bad stuff about them."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

The thing I found most interesting was the watchdog programme on Yodel. There was a similar situation where it was claimed that some packages were delivered and signed for. But the buyer had CCTV footage which showed the drivers walking up to the door with the packages and then walking away from the door still holding the packages.

Edit: Loughborough depot helpful on the phone and said that the parcel is not delivered, and the driver ran out of cards. Though they couldn't tell me why they mark up a parcel as delivered when it's not.0 -
I've had a parcel marked as delivered but not actually delivered. It was delivered the next day.0

If it was arranged through Parcel2Go, get onto them about it through their LiveChat thing. Yodel just left me on hold and never answered the free number, so let P2G sit on hold at their expense.
P2G have been great to me so far, sorting out problems etc0 -
This package has now arrived. It arrived in an unmarked van, not a Yodel one. The driver actually refused my offer to sign for the goods.
I see that sportsdirect.com (where the package came from) advertise 24 hour delivery. I guess Yodel lied about the delivery so that they could report it as a successful 24 hour delivery.
I have taken screenshots of the tracking information showing it being "delivered", then being "out for delivery" and "delivered" at a later date.
My sister has made a formal complaint to the retailer about this.0 -

FYI You have to pay extra for 24hr delivery with Sportsdirect.
Standard is £3.99, and that's longer.0 -

I see. It says "24 Hour Delivery" up the top of their pages, but on checking through the fine print on the FAQ, the 24 hour delivery is an option as you say. But that makes it an unsolved problem as to exactly why Yodel lied about having made the delivery.0
