unable to get internet in london MONTH 10.

Hatsoff

Hello,
I hope someone can help. I live in London, and have spent the last year trying to get access to the internet from my home. AT times I have been lucky to get a few days service (Although the connections drop every 2 hours or so). I was with BT, but due to the amount of hours i spent ringing their tech department and stress, i decided to change to Postoffice broadband. To my dismay i later realised postoffice are owned by BT. THe problems remain. I am currently locked into a contract with postoffice for broadband but they do not provide me with that service. I was charged 166 pounds cancellation fees with BT when i left, although for 2 weeks I was unable to switch because they said i wasn't their customer. When I switched finally they charged me. Currently postoffice cannot provide me with internet access, and are charging me multimedia services on my bill which they say are 'anytime you call a number with an automated service e.g. a library, a call centre, a school"... even if the automated service only lasts for 20 secs before you are put through to a human being you're still charged at that expensive rate. Do I have any options other to break my contract and pay more money for no service?
Please can someone help me get internet access from my flat. It's now month 10 of this ordeal. Anybody else experienced this...?
thanks
BTW I live in a new build property built in 2009.

PO Broadband is not owned by BT, it is a resold BT Wholesale service. What is the actual connection problem-what error messages do you get?
Have you tested the line using ethernet from your master socket? If you are trying to connect wirelessly then you must eliminate wireless issues as the cause first. Have you swapped out your filters for known good ones?
Do you have noise/crackling on the line (dial 17070, option 2 , quiet line test)? If so report it as a line fault to your line rental provider.
Since you had the same problem with BT, the issue appears to be with your line and/or equipment-so switching ISP's will make no difference. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

but they use bt equipment right? also they use same customer service address in Durham. Have you tested the line using ethernet from your master socket? You plug your computer into the router using the ethernet cable-no adaptor needed. Then plug your router into the test socket behind the master socket split faceplate.
All reseller ISP's use BT's equipment, that doesn't make them owned by BT.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
