Buying via third parties - who do I owe?! eg Affordable Mobiles

Dumb question, I can't seem to google for an answer:
I've always bought my contract/phone direct from the network and I've never used another company. If I use a company such as Affordable Mobiles, do I have a contract with them, or with the network?
Basically, who bills me?
I'm only interested in using a third party because the base price is cheaper than on the network (3) website.
Thanks in advance.

You pay AM the handset price.
You are then billed by the network and your contract is with the network.0 -
Ah thanks! The handset is 'free' too.0
