How difficult is it to change iphone batteries?

Made the mistake of purchasing a 2nd hand iphone 3gs online only to discover the battery is knackered and it turns itself off whenever the battery dares drop below 75%. Took it to a local phone repair shop who want £30 to place the battery but Ive seen them on amazon for £8.99 with the tools needed. Has anyone tried this? Is it a difficult task or am i best off living with the extra £30 in order to get it done properly?

From what I understand, it's not so easy to replace the battery. I think £30 is well spent.0

Shop around, I got mine done for £20. Unless you a really proficient, don't attempt it yourself, as you can break the tracks on the mike/speaker causing even more problems.0
