My car was parked in the back road outside my home today and found this damage when I went back out to my car.

Door mirror knocked off and unsalvageable and scrapes on the paint work above the door handle and even on the glass. Also notice the marks near the bump strip and near the 'GLX' sign on the front quarter.

Possible damage caused by a flat bed recovery truck? As one of those was in the street at the time I found the damage.

This is the 3rd door mirror I've had damaged in the last 2 years now (not in the same parking spot.)

Unless you saw who did the damage, or you have a witness, then there is not a lot you can do.
I had a similar incident a few years ago, I bought a mirror from a breakers and fitted it myself.

I feel for you dewd, but you parks your car, you takes your chances. I'd park 2 streets away if I thought my car was at risk of accidental damage from drivers who can't actually drive. :(

Happened to me too recently. £150 excess. Did a scout round my estate and found a Corsa with a wing mirror missing, same colour as the paint left on my car, same height too. Woman denied all charges, maybe legit. What can you do?

Sickening - I feel for you!

Me and my OH had our 12 reg Polo damaged in May, there was over £1000.00 worth of damage and we'd only had the car for a fortnight.

My sentiments as well, i feel for you.

However, unless thats a one way street i would park on the correct side of the road and get closer to the wall!

Probably too late now but an option would have been to call the police and report an accident where the driver failed to stop and failed to report the accident. Matching damage on the woman's car would help.

Edit - OP this obviously may apply to you too :)

Thanks all. I'm pretty sure it was the recovery truck I saw in the street, just wish I saw it happening. I know it must have happened within a 20 minute window as I had just got back home.

I know it doesn't look it in the photo, but there is a pavement between the car and the wall. Car was parked up to the pavement.

Also I reported it to the police and they are coming out tomorrow. Can't see them doing anything apart from giving me a crime number.
  • If its a flat bed recovery truck you think has done this to your car . Theres a slim probality that the driver is not aware of what he has done ?

Yep it was a flat bed truck. There was a wheelie bin on the pavement opposite side of the road. I think what the recovery truck has done is squeezed past between my car and the bin.
