It's all sounding a bit complicated now! I don't know what type of DVD player my friend has, I'll have to ask.

Try Google Shopping as a search engine; if it can be found anywhere it will show up on that.

If not, the LoveFilm sub + recommendation card sounds like a great idea.

I loved that film too and had a VHS copy which I replaced a few years ago with a DVD, but I only paid around £3 for it. Add it to your Amazon wish list so you don't forget and see if the price has gone down for her birthday next year - its a good film with a well known cast so it will probably be reissued.

Omg that is such a good film Ive seen it about 10 times. My sister once went through a phase where she watched it about 2-3 times week lol! Cant believe its so expensive. I think shes got the DVD somewhere although could actually be a video.. Id just buy the region 1 one if it was me because we have a multi region player.

Or you could buy the used one if you dont know what they have, which will probably look fine, and always say look i wanted to get you a really good film, so it is pre used, but its worth it. Or if it arrives in near mint condition you might not need to say anything anyway.

That's a bit pricey! I honestly thought because its quite an old film it would be cheap!

Its odd that I've just bought Dexter Series 4 as a present which is a 4 disc DVD for £11.00, yet this other film is £35.00!

I could buy it second hand and if it looks naff keep it for myself and get her something else!

Part of the learning process. When we're children we learn through repetition. When we're enjoying it we want to repeat it more and more until we know all the words and know everything that's going to happen before it does and it gives us a sense of achievement to conquer this. :)
