No probs with our rescue. The Dogs Trust had him down as Beau (he was approx 15 months) and we immediately renamed him with no difficulty at all. I think dogs are pretty smart and they soon associate the nice person who provides them with food and cuddles with the new name/word!0

We fostered Spot, toilet trained and socialised him, then the rescue centre took him back to go out to his new permanent home. He was Timmy the chicken chasing hound within days, and settled in very quickly indeed. If there's food and a warm bed involved, it's amazing what a [STRIKE]man[/STRIKE] dog can swiftly adapt to.Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0

Brilliant, thanks everyone, we've always had puppies so it's never been an issue. In a conversation with my husband about what we were looking forward to about moving I said getting a dog, the rest of it pales into significance!0

Dogs are generally friendly animals that adapt easily. Changing the name shouldn't make a difference. However the important thing is to ensure that the name is associated with love , and use the name as frequently as you can to call their attention or give commands...0

Yeps pretty easy. I had one called Keegan once; he soon got used to Skip. I like to think he preferred it:o0
