Vertical or venetian blinds?

Which are best?

I can't quite make up my mind. Got a quote for verticals to get fitted in my living room and kitchen for £73 and £88 for aliminium venetians, which I thought was surprisingly cheap. Was veering towards venetians but can't quite make up my mind.

Any ideas?

Personally I prefer venetian blinds. I thinks its personal preference though, so I'm sure you will get others saying they would go for the other option. I think they are more robust and easier to clean!

But they need constant cleaning which verticals don't, factor in gravity and you'll realise why, ;)

My vote for vertical, no contest
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Visually, I think venetians are much more pleasing to the eye. Yes, they need cleaning and dusting, and metal ones more so than wooden ones somehow.

However, if you make the dusting part of your regular cleaning routine & give them a weekly flick with a feather duster, it will cut down the effort you have to put into giving them a really good clean, perhaps a couple of times a year.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

I prefer the look of wooden venetians, but have verticals for practicality - plus you can angle them better if you're watching the TV and the sun is shining in, and they still let in light (unless you have the blackout blinds obviously ; ) )

I have blackout verticals throughout and find them much more versatile than any other window covering.....plus I don't have to clean them :)

    Verticals. No contest.

I loved my venetians until they needed cleaned (surprisingly soon after purchase).

I changed them for verticals and was very happy with them....until we got new windows and as they were upvc tilt and turn ones, I had to get Perfect Fit ventians.

Back to dust and PITA cleaning! :(

Our upstairs windows are tilt and turn so we got roller blinds fitted on the outside of the frames. Lovely blinds, but just saying that i'd never, ever recommend getting blackout blinds for teenagers rooms. Like they need an excuse to sleep past midday! ;)

    I have had both.

With vertical blinds, I found them in need of less cleaning (unless you have a cat who insists on threading through them and leaving hairs all over the fabric :) )

I didn't like the fact that due to the depth of my windowsills, I couldn't have any pictures, ornaments or vases on there.

The venetian blinds I've currently got are nice but require more cleaning. I can put stuff on my windowsills. The aluminium ones I have do bend quite easily and then you can see a crease or a distorted slat if the blinds are down most of the time, which mine are.

You can get verticals that open in the middle. That's where I put an ornament or a vase.
