I thought it was really sad and uncomfortable to watch. I can't say with any sincerity that I am a fan of his, but I found it embarrassing to see him singing to those people who didn't react the way they were suppose to, and then to see him harmed - if anything it made me want to stand up for him and be on his side - but I'm an underdog kind of guy anyway, I don't like to see people hurt for nothing.

(curiously, I can't stand "Underdog" in the adverts, or those bloomin Meercats).

I hate these ads and have done since day one. I either switch channels or turn off the volume when it comes on.

I hadnt seen the TV ad, but saw one of these and thought that someone had actualy defaced it.

    :rotfl:

My mum phoned me up when she saw one of those, only she can't have been paying good attention as she thought it was real and said Go f*** off! :rotfl:

She did phone me a couple of days later when she realised it was a real billboard ad though. :p

I think Sue Barker is one of those 'nice person' celebrities, sensible, down-to-earth, etc. Having her feel the need to fire a bazooka implies that the singer has broken the reserve of even the most reasonable person.... if it was Johnny Rotten doing it, it wouldn't have the same effect.

It's excellent marketing. They briefly brought back the first ad, which got good results, demonstrated they understood the deepening irritation with the songs/character and then did a comic-book/cartoon explosion scene, showing a nice, reasonable woman sighing with relief that she won't have to hear it again.

I don't use them because they often give your details out to all and sundry, but the self-awareness in the ads was excellent.
Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

I have to admit to enjoying seeing the Go Compare man eat a bazooka - it made me laugh.

    I love the meerkats though!

Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.
