I have fine hair and I used a colour remover years ago to get rid of a build up of lots of different semi permanent colours.

Worked fine, left it nice and soft actually. I don't think you can complain about the Clairol employee's attitude when you admitted you had no intention of even trying the solution they recommended.
  • Basically she told me to go to Boots and ask about a color remover. She said because P & G don't make a color remover she couldn't say how good or how effective a color remover would be. I got the impression she really didn't have a clue and was just saying anything. She never even mentioned anti dandruff shampoos or using hot oil.

I am not just annoyed with how Clairol addressed my issues, I am annoyed that their packaging does not clearly state that the hair dye takes a lot longer to wash out than the 24 washes. It would be a great choice if you want a permanent result, however, I chose a semi permanent because I didn't want a permanent result or re-growth.

I have never had this problem with any other semi permanents I have tried. I have used Superdrug's own brand & Schwarzkopf Country Colors & they have done exactly what they say on the box.

In future I will use the wash in wash out toners that last up to 8 washes. Hopefully this will resolve the problem.

That's the thing about those boxed hair colours though, there's a element of risk and the results aren't completely predictable. Everybody's hair is different, every shade is a bit different.

The boxes are a good way to save money on hair colour if you're ok with the fact that you take a bit of a chance, but if you want completely perfect and reliable hair colour you have to pay a professional to do it.
  • I don't use box colours to save money, I just prefer to color my hair at home. There is nothing wrong with how the color turned out, it's the fact it's not washing out or fading & I am ending up with regrowth.

As I said, I have never had a problem before, & I have tried other brands. The problem is with the Nice & Easy hair colors & the fact that Clairol don't put adequate advice/information on their packaging.
