Hey all! I'm 25, newly married and broody!
We've currently got £4750 on a credit card. We'd like to clear a huge chunk of it before TTC. Though I don't want to wait too long :rotfl:
Anyone else WTT?

It's perfectly do-able with a small amount of debt but TBH, pregnancy is stressful enough without additional money/debt worries and reduced income into the mix.0

At 25 you've loads of time before needing to start a family. Enjoy time with your new DH, clear your debts, get a buffer of savings behind you and think about it again in a couple of years time. Just because it can be done doesn't mean it's ideal. I think you know this really or you probably would't be askng the question.;)0 -
As mentioned, you have years and years before you need to think about kids.
Once you have the first one, you are saddled (in the nicest possible way) with an initial 25 year responsibility until they come out the other side of university.
My child was not specifically planned and though thoroughly loved and wanted, I do wish we, as a couple, had had more time together as just the two of us. Looking at other couples who have had an extra 5 or more years of freedom and are thinking about kids now they are in their late 20s and early 30s, I cannot help but feel a little bit jealous of their holiday snaps, taken at any time of the year, when we are now constrained to school holidays !
Enjoy each other and your freedom and during that time, make some sensible financial plans, including looking at your long term needs, including pensions.0 -

Thats a bit of a sweeping statement, who knows how long any of us have got or even how long it will take the OP to fall pregnant - it also seems quite a patronizing comment to make to a fully grown adult !
OP,
The waiting to try thread msb5262 linked to is great for those who are excited about the possibilty of trying but arent quite there yet,
Best thing you can do at this stage is prepare your body, start taking multi-vitamins and cutting out the[STRIKE] good [/STRIKE] harmful stuff. Also look at your finances and work out a timetable, how much can you pay off each month and how much can you put by for savings/expenses for baby ?
For me the early planning stages and excitement about how our lives would change together was almost as enjoyable as actually having the baby, I hope you get to enjoy it too
