Hi i am wanting an all in one printer, I would like a wireles one, something that will do good quality edge to edge photos and my budget is £100
I have had a liik at the HP5510 but in reviews there seems to be a problem of getting the prin straight! I put it to practice in my local PC World and I also found this to be a problem even though the profectional reviews give it a really good write up.
What are my other options, A bonus would be if compatable ink was available for it, I want a decent printer that will allow me to print good quality photos, speed is not a problem but print quality is.
What are your suggestions please?
Keith

Canon pixma MG 5250. Got one. Love it. Amazon price is about as good as you will get for the printer. It's OK with compatible inks as long as you get the chipped ones. I have just bought a set of compatible ink carts from refresh cartridges, not the cheapest but they are good, and will usually price match like for like.0

Thats good, but try the Pixma MG5350 for a couple of £ extra http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/10668608/art/canon/mg5350-wireless-pixma-ink.html?srcid=369&CodePromo=oui0 -
Not sure if Pixmania have changed since they were bought out, but they sent me an Epson without inks, and their site showed the inks as an optional extra, even though Epson say they only sell printers with ink in Europe

Their essentials pack takes it up a bit

I am not sure that the above is correct.........while it is true that some manufacturers (especially Epson) are supplying half full cartridges, the last time I bought a Canon they had a full set of cartridges in the box - plus the following review would appear to confirm this12Mar2012_-_Pixmania_review wrote:Ian brown / liverpool - United Kingdom I have been looking for a canon printer thats fast and easy to use for a while reading reveiw after reveiw when i came across the mg 5350 .Its got everything i need plus more with wireless connection .You might ask why was i looking at this printer well ive just got into photography with my canon eos 550d this printer works in harmony doing everything that i want it to do.The our so many pluses its got a clever pop up screen which is a breeze to set the wireless up theres a card reader were i can pop my card in and then see what pics i want to print before i print on the pop up screen you will not be disappointed .
PS Pixmania is owned by the Dixons group0 -
Even if it has the inks and cable. The shipping is from £16:30.
I will ring them and ask if they sell it with inks at £83:50 plus £16:30 delivery
Looking at the product comparison it would not make me rush to spend more on a 5350

Where does the review mention it coming with inks?
I am aware of who owns it, hence the comment about it being bought out0 -
I'd go for an epson. probably the sx445w, i've already posted on another post about compatible inks for it.
3sets / 12 cartridges around £11.15 ink-power doesnt say how many ml.

slightly more expensive but 19ml in each0 -
Hello Andy, you may want to consider using these refillable ones
http://www.inkexpress.co.uk/catalogue/Refillable-Ink-Cartridges/Epson/Stylus-SX445W/T1285_empty.html
Expensive to start with but the ongoing costs are good, my PX800FW cost per 13ml cartridge is down to 90 pence per set of six
Using this in a 4 ink printer should be 68 pence per set based on 13ml of ink per cartridge
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002LIUCY8/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=103612307&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=7807132523&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=0QZ8C5BXY7EQ06GGAHCY
When changed, the cartridges do not do a warm up routine, they simply get recognised as full and are ready to print.
No need to modify the printer, which can be the case with CISS systems, and the ink cost is the same, though refilling is more frequent.0 -
I currently have an sx200 printer not the sx445w.
I have been looking at the price of cartridges, and i dont use my printer much. still got 1 set left from a 3set i bought 3years ago.
I had a look using the link you provided and changed to the sx200 which shows as £16.99 with no ink, i'm sure i've seen those empty refillable cartridges on ebay for less than that.
the other link 4x100ml looks interesting though for £5.18
I dont need syringes, i erm bought a box of 100 from a vets for various purposes, main reason was to put REDEX in the petrol when i fill up.
these look exactly the same
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/REFILLABLE-INK-CARTRIDGE-FOR-S20-SX400-SX200-SX105-/370568887188?pt=UK_Computing_Other_Computing_Networking&hash=item5647a07b94
so according to my math £9.50 + £5.18 for 400ml + cartridges £14.68
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12-ink-cartridges-for-Epson-S20-SX100-SX105-SX200-SX205-/150470454456?pt=UK_CamerasPhoto_Printing_PrinterInkCatridges_JN&hash=item2308bcecb8
21ml per cartridge £5.95 now i need to do the math compared 100ml of ink to 21ml in cartridge etc
ok i worked it out.
using the above info, i would have to buy 7 sets of compatibles for the same cost as the inital outlay of the refillable ink carts + ink.
before it becomes cheaper to use them.
7carts x 21ml = 144ml, and after those 7 it would indeed be cheaper to buy the ink for the refillable carts
but for the amount of printing i do, and for the sake of NOT messing around refilling cartridges I think it would better for me to stick with the pre-filled carts.
each cart pre filled is £0.50, refillable cartridges work out at £0.26 per refill, but you have the cost of the cartridges to add.
which screws up the saving in the short period, but for anyone doing loads of printing it would be cheaper.0 -
12 cartridges with 21ml of ink is 252ml, £5:95 divided by 252 comes to 2.36p per ml of ink and 49.56p per cartridge
400ml of ink divided by 21ml comes to 19:04 cartridges or 1.29p per ml and 27.09p per cartridge
Plus the £9:50 for the ebay refillables though the cost added to each cartridge refill would depend on how long the printer lasted
One thing with refillables is they can be used with head cleaning flush which can be useful if you do not do a lot of printing
We were doing the calculations simultaneously0
