Packing for hospital

All the hospitals I can remember staying in have had a small towel rail at the back of the locker where you hang the towel up when not in use.
Handcream and lipsyl. Battery operated fan (if we see any sunshine!) Small photo frame?
Handcream, of course! Especially of i am using that hand cleaner stuff :rotfl:. :rotfl:.
I am not worried about photos, if i see them i will probably me worried about who is taking care of who back at home. Leaving takes some organisation! . In truth even if its not done 'my way' it will all be done ok. My dad is stepping into the breach, and the house animals love him, and while we do things differently he does some of those things better. (e.g. In the evening i throw the dogs out of the house to do a widdle while i check the other animals outside, my dad stays with the dogs till he sees them widdle, i just assume they have!). . I have also decided to add a fleece to the bag, as evenin the warm i can get cold when i am still.0

I am an eccentric dresser, and i don't know how many of my clothes i would take would be suitable. I have taken a pair of track suit trousers though, primarily with discharge in mind. Today i am wearing a dress that would be comfortable, but whether it would be suitable i do not know. I do not want to sit around in uncomfortable clothes, and night clothes might be more suitable. Otoh, if i am allowed to walk around i would want to. I shall wash and pack this dress this evening.:)0

Earplugs! Hospitals are really noise places at night.
Eyeshade if light keeps you awake - cubicle curtains are thin and others may need their cubicle lights on at night, or you may need to catch up on sleep during the day.
Oh, and a cheapo pair of flipflops that you can wear around the ward, to and from showers etc. then bin when you go home.If you lend someone £20 and never see them again, it was probably £20 well spent...0

do you have an mp3 player? I used the music on my smartphone a lot when I was in hospital.0

Without knowing what they are going to do to your head ...
when I had the brain surgery, I bought some silk scarves in case they either shaved half my head, or I couldn't wash my hair for ages and it looked really manky.
In the event, they shaved a bit which was well hidden, and I had the dressing off and was able to (gently!) wash my hair within my tolerance limits.Signature removed for peace of mind0

I don't think they know what they ate going to do yet either. A silk scarf is a superb idea, and i will pack one. If nothing else it will cheer me up to use one of my lovely scarves, thank you. The thought had not crossed my mind.0

Taking your own towel for choice as it feels like a bit of comfort from home is fine but the poster was suggesting that they weren't supplied at all which is just wrong! :eek:Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

Glad I could help. I wasn't a huge scarf wearer then, but I am now, and don't leave home without several of varying sizes. The largest are pashmina sized and are great for cuddling up in if I feel a bit chilly, and of course if you are in a back fastening gown they do provide a little more modesty at the top!lostinrates wrote: »I don't think they know what they ate going to do yet either. Money for the tv really needed that as I was in a ward with people in a alot of pain and was sedated quite alot. I just wore my 3/4 lengths so I could have a wander around the hospital grounds and to have a smoke too.0

Take a pen and paper - if only for writing a list of things you want your OH to remember!
Hope all goes well for you. xMiggy
