Can't really go by that though.

The problem is that there is too much glare on the TV to watch it during the day, especially when the sun is out. Sometimes can't watch it til 9.

I did actually think that LEDs were better than plasmas but seems there are pros and cons to both

""""upgrading my plasma to an LED"""" What makes you think going from Plasma to LED is an upgrade ? it might well be a downgrade, there's very little between them in terms of lifespan burn-in and longevity but continuing differences in price / light output / black levels / contrast ratio / energy consumption and price, it really depends on which of the half dozen differences are really really important to you personally.

    - Light output / LED TVs :) plasma :(
    - Black level plasma :) / LCD :(
    - Contrast ratio Plasma :) / LCD :(
    - Viewing angle plasma :) and both the LCD and LED :(
    - Energy consumption LED's :) and plasma :(
    - Price CCFL's :) with plasma in second place and LED :(

We like our plasma - it has a dynamic picture, meaning it can be viewed in direct sunlight, and the viewing angle is fantastic, blacks are wonderful on it. The main reason we went for this one is that we liked the picture and wanted a good viewing angle. You have to go by what you are after, ours also has a gaming setting, which was one of the things we wanted.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare

Not necessarily ......................it is a different type of television, NOT a downgrade........
  • I've got 2 Panasonic TVs, a 6 year old 37" plasma and a 4 month old 32" LED (back lit LCD). I can't see any difference between the 2. LCD technology has improved considerably over the past few years, when I bought the plasma there was no way I would have considered an LCD TV they looked awful but I'm currently considering replacing the Plasma with an LED/LCD.
Nothing to see here, move along.

whats the gaming setting? what ever it is, wish I had it, as playing games on mine, always leaves me worrying about screen burn but as it's a Panasonic it's been ok up to now.

Viewing angle on Samsung LED is excellent.
Plasmas tend to be heavier and thicker, get the LED.

Perhaps you could upgrade your curtains, should be cheaper than replacing your TV?
