Permitted Work - paid too much per hour

Under the permitted work guidelines for incapacity benefit it says you can work
- less than 16 hours a week
- earn up to £97.50 each week
What happens if you work less than 16 hours but earn more than £97.50 a week (wage is more than £6.50 an hour), are you stopped anything over the £97.50 off your incapacity benefit or are you just not allowed to earn over £97.50

If you earn more than £97.50 a week your IB will be stopped - you are not allowed to earn more than that.0

If IB follows similar rules as to ESA in these matters (check), one option would be for that week to contribute twice the excess amount into a personal pension.0

Unfortunatly the pay per hour is really good but it is no where near 16 hours but still takes it over the allowed £97.50 per week.
I would think they would deduct anything over the £97.50 off the incapacity benefit but just wanted to clarify, unfortunatly need to let them know by the end of the weekend so will be too late to wait and contact the benefits agency when they open again on monday0 -

Could you ask for less hours, or enough hours to enable you to come off IB?0 -
I had tried part time work of 15 hours previously and was unable to do it. This is better as it is only a couple of hours a time each day but would take me over the permitted earnings due to the pay per hour.
Can you get help with travel expensives because it isnt close to where I am either and with it being only two hours a day would cost alot per day as it isnt many hours at one time. If you could claim travel expenses would this be classed as part of the £97.50 meaning I would be allowed to earn even less.0 -

Most people can't claim travel expenses to get to work I'm afraid.0 -
I was just checking as the job is a 25 mile trip and is only 2 hours a time but they have been good enough to offer me a chance.
When I was well travel expenses wouldn't of mattered as I used to be able to do full time hours each day. Only being two hours a time makes a huge difference with it being located so far away and I haven't been able to get anything local where the travel costs would be far less.0 -

I have searched the internet to see what are allowable expenses when doing 'permitted work'. The only reference I can find is they allow tax and national insurance to be deducted.
There is a form PW1 (I believe it is called) which is an application to do permitted work.
I am unsure whether you have to complete it (seems to be at odds with not requiring permission) so the form may be out of date.
However I did wonder if anyone had filled one in whether it might give some information about allowable deductions.
Anyone?0 -
thanks alot for your help I am very grateful0

PW! still exsists, before permitted work can be undertaken it has to be filled out and a IB SDM has to decide if it can be classed as permitted work, and accepted as such..
The permitted work limit is strict and you have to earn under the specific amount each week for it to be accepted
If you are Self employed they can and will look at expenses0
