unsolicited calls from a carbon trader

Im getting up to 4 calls a day from a company that lifted my details from a website. They have been calling from a prepared script trying to sell investment in carbon trading.

Despite asking them not to call and to remove my details they keep calling.

I even contacted the FSA who said carbon trading is unregulated.

The only thing I can do is give them a taste of their own medicine!

Any ideas?

I get inundated likewise, with blasted PPI bar stewards calling.
The best solution I've found is a caller display unit and an answering machine, if I don't recognise the number I let the machine take it - they rarely leave a message.

On the odd occasion that I slip up and answer it, as soon as they mention PPI they get a very Anglo-Saxon reply and the phone gets hung up.

Get a whistle and blow it down the phone.
  • I would love them to get bombarded with calls so they can taste it themselves.

I asked to speak to a manager and they just mocked me.

Answering machine and caller ID. We never answer the phone to a number that we don't recognise unless the caller starts to leave a message. We can then decide whether to pick up or not.
  • Your post is another example of why these companies should be avoided: it is a demonstration of desperate/ill mannered they are.

I got rid if my landline a few years ago, which stopped unsolicited calls, but many people recommend a machine that helps to filter them.

Going Ex-directory and using the TPS has helped me to cut down unsolicited calls to almost nothing. I did once inform an indian sounding caller that I was signed up to the TPS and they were breaking the law, got what sounded like a sincere apology and have never heard from them since.

True, but irrelevant if you register with the TPS http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/index.html

When I was a child a carbon trader was the local coal merchant. Next time they call order a few sacks of nutty slack.
I can afford anything that I want.

TPS does not cover everything. These consters use international call centres to circumvent the system. Sometimes they call do do surveys, the number of calls I get on my landline borders on harassment and I cannot seem to stop them.

I am both registered with the TPS and ex-directory but they still have my details. Narks me off that they don't listen when I tell them to take me off their lists, they just hang up and call back again later.:mad::mad:

Next time they call they'll get the whistle.
