Anyone else not able to send texts on Orange?

Hi I can't sen texts on my iPhone 4s. It's a new one (about a month old) and all of a sudden it stopped sending texts and come up with an error to several numbers. I can receive texts. These are the most basic of services.
So I tried the sim in two old Nokias and the problem was still there. I tried another orange sim in the iPhone which worked fine.
This started yesterday.
At this point I tried some Internet workarounds and called orange who did loads of messing about, resets with a "level 2" support rep, ie one more brain cell than level one reps, with the outcome of them sending a new sim. I cant even go to a shop to collect one at will as they have to post it out, which costs them money and me time.
Anyone else having this issue and should I be asking for daily line rental costs off my bill for not getting my unlimited texts entitlement?
