reducing pay monthly bill cost

is it possible to swap from a pay monthly contract to a sim only contract, part way through the contract?

part of my pay monthly cost (£27/month) is to do with the phone i chose when starting the contract (blackberry bold 9700 in sept 2011) as the same contract on more basic phones was much cheaper (unlimited texts, 400 mins and 500mb data)

i no longer use the blackberry as it would always freeze and restart and i was just fed up of it, so when my dad upgraded his phone he gave me his old i phone

do you think if i called up and explained, orange might reduce the bill cost?

or, is it possible to cancel the contract? would i have to pay any charges? another issue is that i get absolutely no signal at my house and i can never make any calls from my house, i used to be on o2 and would get signal everywhere

thanks!

You have answered your own query, contracts are a minimum term commitment with exit 'penalties'.
