Bailiff behaviour @ neighbours - rant
Comments
-
It would be nothing to do with me had they not been banging and shouting loud enough to hear in my own home. As it is, they were and that aspect is my concern and that is why I want to find out who they are and give them a piece of my mind.
Your neighbours have made it clear to you that they don't want to talk about it, if you were my neighbour, i'd want you to forget it.0 -
However I would not want people banging at my neighbours house if its a noise distrubstance even if my neighbour was a tax dodger etc.

The OP has done nothing wrong.
Agreed.
No one would question their saying something if, for example, a motorcycle gang came and started a ruckus because of a disagreement with someone living there. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
I guess embarrassment is part of their repertoir.
Next time, ask them for the name of their company, tell them you will call the Police .0 -
Am I the only person who doesn't understand the hatred towards bailiffs?
But then again, I also don't understand the hatred of traffic wardens.
It's a nasty job, but someone has to do it....Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Agreed!
Doing the job of a bailiff is never going to be easy, they will have targets like every other individual performing a job except their work involves a lot of emotion and a lot of uncertainty due to the wide variety of people and circumstances they have to deal with.
Saying that, there are some bad apples and always will be. I don't condone violence or threatening behavior but going in trying to smell of roses just isn't going to work.
As far as op's concerned. You showed good character by wanting to complain about their behavior - however, the neighbors clearly do not want your involvement and at the end of the day it is none of your business. So respect their privacy and stay out of business that is not of your concern.
Again.. same here... until I see the **** walking towards my car :DBut then again, I also don't understand the hatred of traffic wardens.0 -
You are right, some attitudes are completely out of order.Agreed!

But it's hard to imagine bailiffs on their knees begging 'pleeeeeease give us the money you owe? Pretty please?'
There are situations where a family has hit rock bottom through no fault of their own, and a bailiffs threatening them only makes their sorrow worse.
BUT!
There are situations where someone will be sitting in their large houses with fancy cars in the driveway laughing in the face of bailiffs because they didn't feel like paying for the money they borrowed.
I think it's a tough job to figure out who Deserves what kind of treatment. So I guess they treat everyone the same.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

What hatred towards bailiffs?
There has hardly been a great outpouring of ill feeling towards bailiffs in this thread.
Of course, people are going to dislike bailiffs who behave like thugs or break the rules.
I agree with your sentiment as it applies to traffic wardens, though.
My only gripe with them is that they are instructed to spend most of their time on 'revenue protection' duties (residents bays and car parks) rather than ticketing those who flout the parking rules and hold up the traffic and make life more dangerous for pedestrians and cyclists. But that's hardly their fault. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
I am not against bailiffs - only the behaviour displayed by these particular ones. Shouting out and threatening that you will break in and take stuff is not my idea of the way a bailiff should behave.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If the debt has already progressed through the system, (the bill, final demand, LBA, court action and then no payment made to satisfy the court decision,) maybe the threatening to enter and take goods was the correct way to proceed.
As has already been mentioned, a court appointed bailiff has the legal right to enter a property to seize goods to cover payment for a court judgement, and if no one was answering the door, all the bailiff was doing was informing the householder of what may happen if they continued to ignore them.0
