Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 16th July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, soplease don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all,

Not like me to be up quite so early on a weekend, but i stayed in last night and then got a call at 4am from Ex asking to kip on the sofa, which i agreed to, as he'd gotten into a fight, and could do without the agro from his parents... But now I'm the one on the sofa as I'm wide awake

He's not doing a great job of convincing me he'll change to win me back!!

Still, he's taking pup home with him today for a week, so the day will be my own totally once they've gone. Won't know what to do with myself without pup!

House work is done for the most part, will spend an hour cleaning down walls, floors and bits, also need to change the bedding.

Dinner will be one of the potatoes I baked yesterday with Tuna or Beans.

Have a lovely day all

    Morning all,

Lovely day here :T got the first of three loads in the wm will get them on the line today.

Need to drop dd off at work at 9, then come back and tidy through downstairs, OH can help with that.

Then we will be out in the garden, a while ago we put down a large section of weed matting and covered it with stones, its just under my kitchen window so I look out on it, well the weed matting does not work, and I have to keep weeding the b****y thing, so we have got hold of some extra thick poly stuff so thats going down today.

Also my DW has died :(, really did not need that this month, it could be repaired but would cost £90 in parts, its very old, we inherited it when we moved in here, we have found a local one on gumtree only used twice for £90 so OH is going to look at it tonight, so the old one can be dumped today along with the microwave which has also died this week, and the patio umberella.

Not sure whats for dinner, dd got some fresh beetroot from work yesterday, so might roast that and have it hot with parmasan its delish :D, she also got me some freshly dug new spuds, so might do some of those too.

Bramble, enjoy some 'me' time, and stick to your guns with your EX, does not seem like he's trying very hard to win you back xx
  • Hope everyone gets a good chance to enjoy the sunshine :D

Little'un (5 months old tomorrow) will be needing feeding every 2 or 3 hours, but between feeds I'll be getting some laundry done and preparing a picnic for a day out tomorrow at the River Festival. Cheese and herb bread rolls, hard boiled eggs from our hens, cold sausages... Need to get a second batch of dough on the go later for homemade pizzas tonight as well, which will be enjoyed with a film and some snuggles this evening :)
If you lend someone £20 and never see them again, it was probably £20 well spent...
  • Good morning all,
Lovely and sunny here at the moment. One load of washing out on the line. Only about another five to go!!
I want to hoover and polish right through today. It shouldn't take too long. Need to go over the allotment, starting to get weedy in places. We picked the last of the peas yesterday, enough to fill an ice cream tub. Well i say the last, we do have some climbing peas that we have growing up canes. They are nowhere near ready yet, they are only about 4 inches tall.
Chicken with hg potatoes and hg salad. Nice and easy.
    Bramble, enjoy your 'me' time.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

    Morning all

Bramble - make it clear to the ex that this was a one-off or he'll see you as a soft touch and keep doing it. Enjoy your me-time x

I woke up in a good mood :) Sun is shining and I'm off to a day festival later in Pontypridd, where I'll get to see my future husband Olly Murs performing :j:j. I'm going with one of my Camp America friends, who is down here visiting her Dad. So I'm going over theirs for lunch first, then we heading off as gates don't open til half3. It will be a long day, but fun!

No OS here - house is clean, washing all done yesterday.

    Have a fab day all

    Morning all
Dropped hubby at work, went to the butchers & bakers on the way home, hung washing on the line & got another load in the machine. I'm putting my feet up for a while now, DD1 is visiting tomorrow with DFGC, they will be harvesting veg with hubby. He doesn't know if he has to go to work tomorrow yet, if he does it's only for a couple of hours. Lunch/tea today will be peppered burgers in a bun with HG salad whenever hubby finishes work.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Had a couple hours kip on the sofa, Ex is still asleep. Will get out with pup for one last walk before he goes, after my coffee.

Beautiful day here! Will stick my headphones on, listen to my music and dance in the mud (I'm sure everyone must think - there goes that crazy girl in her polka dot jacket and wellies, what a looney!)

    Morning everyone.

Sun is out woop woop :j first load of laundry on the line.
Busy day here, local allotments are having an open day so want to pop along and out my name down for one. Niece and nephew are comng round (my mum is babysitting for weekend) and then me and H are taking all 4 off up soft play centre for a birthday party. Dog has been walked and cleaned up, she got filthy  so am about to dive into the shower.

Tea will be HM pizza. Treated myself to a McDonald's last night. Now I remember why I don't bother.....it was ruddy awful :mad:

Bramble please don't think I am speaking out of turn but if there is no chance of reconciliation then why are you allowing ex OH to do things like this? All it does is prolong the agony and give false hope. Not having a go but you seemed so set on the idea of no longer loving him......not sure you'll get that back just by him behaving a bit better IYSWIM :o

Flutterby have a good time :j

Redruby sorry to hear about your DW. Hope the potential replacement works out.

Hugs and spoons all round. Enjoy the sunshine if you have it :T

Morning everyone well the sun is out and its looking good for a few days Eldest DD and family are on their way to Torquay(probably there by now as they leave about 4.00.a.m.)I have to pop up to her house later to make sure the post is moved (she has a glass double glazed door and you can see the post on the mat) also to pick up any left over fresh bits as they are away for two weeks,so i get fruit, bread and milk etc thats not been used.Saves throwing it away at least.
Then home to have a quiet day just pottering around.maybe bake an orange drizzle cake for a change as I have plenty of oranges.I have a bit of steak from the freezer out for dinner tonight with some left over new potatoes and a bit of salad.NSD for me today I am trying to go once every 10 days if I can and use up as much as I can from my cupboards and freezer.Only 28 days until we go on our holidays so every spare bit of cash is being stashed for then.I do hope we get some nice sun for at least a few days.DGS Ben is coming tomorrow to strim my lawn as its starting to go wild again after all the rain.No washing or ironing to do for one I'm all up to date .
I hope you all have a smashing weekend and the sun shines down on you all
    Cheers chums JackieO xxx
