No I didn't think the updates would take 5 years, but there have been a lot of updates in the past 5 years, including Service Packs. They can take a long time even if done regularly and I wondered how long 5 years worth of updates would take.

No key required for a Factory Restore of the Operating System. Only Product Keys for standalone products that you have purchased.

How do I go about starting a factory restore on my PC?

Will I lose all the music on my iplayer?

I have already answered that question above. The five year thing was humourous.

Can one store music using the iPlayer?

Have you stated the make and full model number of your machine?

Sorry. Yes I did realise you were being humorous. I have a stinking cold and I'm feeling pretty lousy so shouldn't be trying to deal with this at the moment as my head is mince.

Thanks for the link. I'll have a look at that.

One thing that made Dell tempting was that they offer software to transfer all your data from the old to the new machine quickly for about £38. That sounded a better options than spending hours and nights doing it.

Sorry not at home now but it's a Packard Bell, unsure which model it is. Meant to say Itunes rather than iplayer.

You already have that Transfer software on your current PC.

Packard Bell.....groan. Anyway, will need the full model number.

Not familiar with iTunes, but everything can be saved. Do you mean songs purchased from within iTunes?

That's good to know. So it wouldn't take hours and days to restore? Excellent.

Windows Easy Transfer for transferring from Windows Vista (32 bit) to Windows 7

Of course this was for if you were transferring to a new machine. No need to pay DELL for free software.
