Can anyone help me change my mobile setting?

Its pre set to go to answer phone after just a few rings, so I constantly have to retrieve voicemail messages.

I have searched manuals and tried to get through to service advice to no avail.
Its a Nokia C300 silver part touch screen and part buttons

I have a new job and a sick relative, its becoming a real problem , I have had accidents trying to answer it quickly !

I've found this, can you give it a try?

Menu > Settings > Call (or Calling) > Call divert.
Menu > Tools > Settings > Phone > Call divert.
Menu > Settings > Phone Settings > Phone > Call divert.

In Call divert settings select Voice calls > If not answered > Activate > To voice mailbox and select the preferred delay time. The maximum delay time is 30 seconds.

Note that the ringing time is determined by the operator settings and the call divert delay may not always be freely adjusted by the subscriber. Contact your operator for more details.

Thanks barneysmum, I tried it, but it doesnt have the last little option " to voice mailbox " , so I will try your suggestion of contacting carphone warehouse, I might just drive to a shop and get them to do it.

thanks again for trying tho, at least I know its not me being thick.

Usually it's set to 20 secs by default and contract customers can change it by using the GSM code:

    **61*<number>*11*nn#

Where <number> is where you want the call to divert and nn is the length of time in seconds, in 5 sec units up to 30 secs (eg: 05 or 15 etc)

Some PAYG networks allow this also, but they're in the minority.

    Hope this helps.
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂
  • I had a Samsung Jet on T Mobile that only rang 3 times before going to voicemail. After an hour of trying to resolve the issue myself eventually rang TMob and they gave me a code to change it. The cynic in me thinks they have a very short ring length due to the fact they charge to retrieve voicemail, lol.

The duration is set by your mobile phone service provider.

I had the same problem and googled for the answer (which was in the form as mentioned by Simax above).

I'm with O2 and as I was passing their shop I just went in and asked them how to change it. They did it there and then for me and now it goes for the maximum 30 seconds.

They also used the code as mentioned above so I would first try googling something like "extending ringtime before voicemail on O2" or whoever you are with.

If you don't find a way to change, then one obvious solution is to switch it off. You will always see who has called from the missed calls section.

Another thing to be aware of is that with many networks, and there is s current thread about Vodafone that mentions this, have minimum call time of 1 minute, so as soon as your voicemail cuts in, the caller has either lost or paid for 1 minute, even if they didn't want to leave you a message, so unsetting voicemail isn't necessarily a bad thing.
