Do you have to opt-in for O2 travel?

My nephew is on a contract with O2 and he's currently abroad. I was reading about o2 travel, are you automatically on it as an O2 customer? Thanks

It was applied automatically for me, but you should check where he is going on the o2 site, if its EU, its actually cheaper to not have it if its for very little use...
