Virgin card and another MBNA card - not possible

Well called up again. They are refusing to budge. They say the policy "at present" is you can only hold only one MBNA card. I don't know if this a policy for me personally or a global policy though."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0

i've been a credit card tart for over 6 years now. i have always had an MBNA platimun card. however i also got a virgin card at the same time with 0% for six months, then after this ended i cancelled and got an abbey card, after than a BMI one, then ryan air, then virgin again and then A&L (I believe all these are underwritten by MBNA), plus some other cards of theirs I can't remember! so i have always had two which has saved me a fortune in interest over the years. However I cancelled my A&L one a week ago and applied for an mbna conran card, i was decline - the adviser assured me this was nothing to do with the way i run my account but because the current policy has recently changed so you can only have one of their cards. now this could be true as I know credit card companies are under pressure from the goverment not to give out too much credit - or is it because they are sick of people like me taking advantage of the 0% rates????
any ideas?
thanks

I got refused for a Vigin CC last evening because I hold an MBNA card, now I hope Capital One give me a 9 month BT card.0

I've just activated my ABBEY Card 0% for 9 months with two £2500 BTs with no fee. Credit Limit £5500. I already have 2 other MBNA Cards with a joint limit of £4100 total limit between 3 cards is £9600.
The Telephone Operator also topped up the remaining £500 spare by transferring funds directly into my current account again with no fee. The actual amount was £490 £10 below the available limit.
I asked him directly if there was a limit to how many MBNA cards an individual may own and he said there was no limit saying he knew of individuals with double figures.
From what I could deduce you can keep applying for cards as long as you are prepared to cut the limits on other cards within the MBNA Group.
I have an A&L current account and will test this theory next December/January when my Abbey 0% comes to an end.Old Saying Once bitten twice shy

Got a letter from Virgin yesterday confirming they would not be issuing me with a Virgin card. They said (to paraphrase): we have looked at your records, including details on your other cards issued by MBNA, however on this occasion we will not be able to issue you with a new Virgin card.
Could it just be a policy where MBNA are not issuing Virgin cards if you hold another MBNA credit card?"An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0 -

What about if you close the MBNA card one week, could you apply for a Virgin card the next week or would you have to wait 6 months?0 -
I applied & got accepted for the Virgin card, sent my agreement off yesterday.
By pure coincidence I get a mail from MBNA inviting me to apply for their card, which you can do at https://www.mbnainstant.com. I applied thursday night, & was accepted online & the agreement landed this morning.
I just need clarification on the BT fees for Virgin & MBNA's own card. T&Cs both say 2% fee (Virgin £35 max, MBNA £50) on some balance transfers. What do they mean by 'some'?0 -

To date no-one has managed to fathom this one out. MBNA are not the most consistent outfit - just take a look at the different replies regarding how many cards you can hold.
I'm afraid they're like this with their charging too. :rolleyes:0
