:(

Went to docs today to get my ears checked. Been having trouble hearing for the past week. Confirmed I had blocked wax as suspected (ear drops have done nothing for me) and arranged to see the nurse to get them syringed.

No problems there.

Upon making an appointment with the nurse (bearing in mind this is a small town) I have to wait until Aug 1st. That's not this wednesday but the following wednesday. So gonna be hard of hearing for the next week and a bit. Hmph.

try those chinese candles. They are very good, you light them, stick them in your ear and it literally sucks the wax out!

Me and a few friends have tried those candles and ended up feeling dizzy the next day, haven't tried them after that.
    I hate migraines.

But how was your hearing afterwards?

    I've been Money Tipped!
Two weeks seems to be a pretty standard as others I know have had the same wait...I wonder if it's a target?

If you really need to be seen sooner perhaps there's a private clinic you could go to? (not very MSE on the surface but if the choice is to pay for an appointment of lose income because you can't work then it might be an option). If you have a medical cash plan then you could get reimbursed for the costs as well.
Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!

Ear candles don't work, at best snake oil and at worst dangerous!

Using ear candles is a very good way of dripping burning hot wax into your ears, causing permanent damage

Please, please, don't use ear candles.

I'll leave you with this :)

I normally have to wait anything up to a month to see the nurse as there is only 1 late night appointment a month :(

Yeah i've used them for years with not problems. If you're careful you don't have any problems.

They also do work as you end up with a disgusting lump of ear wax.

I don't believe they are dangerous

General guidelines state sodium bicarb and olive oil drops for 2 weeks then get the ears syringed. I'm not a big fan of ear syringing -can cause probs with ear drum, temporary dizziness, and can cause infection in the outer ear canal.
    Nuts oh Hazelnuts:rotfl:
