Why do people obsess about old threads re-emerging?

There are many ways you can end up in a very old thread. Apart form Google there are always links from thread to thread within a site and it's not difficult to end up on a long buried example.

What the obsessors do is keep prodding the thread as if it's evidence of some weird conspiracy, thus ensuring that what would have been a very short re-emergence spends hour - sometimes days - on the front page.

Chill out and relax, guys, an old thread isn't going to bite you.

Same at Queen Elizabeth's Coronation. The streets were blocked all day and it took forever to get from Euston to Waterloo. I really think that traffic management should be improved. Sheeeeesh!!!!
