EDF problems
I have been having problems with EDF for months now for which they admitted was their fault and sent me a £40 cheque.
I am only with EDF as changing the meters to credit meters is free, once this is finally sorted I will be switching to someone else.
Anyways since around March/April we have been with EDF for gas but we have been using the previous scottish power payment card as the ones EDF send never work and we just got sick of asking for a new working one. The meter was meant to be changed in June but the engineer was given the wrong address and never showed. I have to phone up to find out where he was. This according to them was not their fault, and meant having to wait over a month for a new appointment (14 August)! EDF have had so many errors on my account and not once have they connected me to sort them out, it has always been me getting annoyed with them and phoning.
Anyways I have just today received a statement from Scottish Power for Gas and I am in credit
Does this mean that my gas account isn't even with EDF? Can I close the Scottish Power account or will this stop my gas?

Find out who is currently registered as your gas supplier - there's advice & a number to call for help here
http://www.uswitch.com/gas-electricity/guides/who-supplies-my-electricity-and-gas/
If it proves to be EDF contact them & get a working key.
You may also be eligible for a nominal compensation payment if they failed to attend an appointment.
The fact Scottish Power say you're in credit with them suggests to me that they probably aren't supplying the gas. If this is so get your credit back (or paid over to EDF who if supplying you with gas you are likely to be in debit with) and stop using their key.0 -
As part of the changeover SP should have infomed Siemens (the middlemen) that they were no longer the supplier, and EDF should have informed them that they were the new supplier - with dates.
When this happens payments get redirected to the right supplier even if the old card is used.
If neither of these happened, the payments will go to SP, and the usual procedure is for EDF to collect payments after the switch from SP.
If SP did their bit and EDF didn't the payments stay with Siemens until EDF send them the details.
I'd check with SP that it doesn't include any payments after your switch date - once that is taken into account any credit is yours.0 -
See this thread about compensation for the missed appointment.

well the bill is:
April = -£6
May = - £40
Jul = - £20
Start reading - 18 march
End reading - 29 June
So I phoned the number and they say Scottish Power. The address Scottish Power have is 30a while EDF have 30b. 30b has been split in two but for most things we are still 30a except for council tax and EDF.
phone call one - edf done
phone call two - scottish power, need to do.
We have a meter exchange booked so we are with EDF as they cant do that unless they are the supplier. Dont want to inform Scottish power in case they stop the payment card as none of the EDF ones work.
EDIT: Don't need to phone Scottish Power. They will claim the payments. They say that on the national database we were last with BG. Been here for over 1 year and never been with BG. We will continue to use the SP card till the meter is changed.0 -
Why did you believe you were with EDF, who has been billing you?0

Bgas? Ask the current supplier to confirm all previous suppliers and dates covering the period you have been there. They can easily tell you that.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0

Because we moved over to them in Feb so that we could exchange the prepayment meter for free, they are so crap that it still hasn't been done. EDF have all the dates but claim we were with BG not Scottish Power when we switched. I think the previous tenants must have just switch to SP before they moved out or something. I have complained for months that no prepayment card EDF have sent worked, but they didn't nothing. The last one which was meant to have the correct ref number on the card or something never turned up.0 -
In terms of your meter change, its irrelevant who you came from.
Its relevant to collect any misdirected payments though.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0
