If you tell them, then you don't have to worry about anything. If it's not relevant, they'll just discard the info. If it is relevant, then it's just as well you would have told them.
Methinks ur looking 4 an excuse not to tell them (some technicality in the policy wording perhaps), just in case it IS relevant. Tee hee hee.
Remember the phrase about "truth, whole truth & nothing but truth". An omission is as good as a lie.0 -

You haven't read the OP's question at all!
OP - ignore Mr Thrifty!0 -
You haven't read the OP's question at all!
OP - ignore Mr Thrifty!
Hold on, hold on!
She said that her policy contains the following wording:
Under Please Tell Us Immediately:
if you or any driver named on your policy, are involved in an accident or loss, no matter how trivial and even if you do not wish to make a claim
Now, let's be honest. It couldn't actually be clearer, could it? She knows she has to inform the insurance company. The subsequent clause regarding renewal does not change the requirement set out in thie clause above; she has to inform the company under either circumstance (immediately as well as at renewal).
OP - Ignore Quentin! His bad advice might get you into trouble with the law! Tell your insurance company like you're required to, and all will be well! Do not, I repeat Do Not tell porkies to your insurance company or omit to tell them relevant information. You could invalidate your insurance if you have an Accident.
I'm thinking here more about your safety than your wallet.0 -

My question was because he is also a NAMED DRIVER on MY car. Which means at some point I need to tell them that his driving history has changed.
Sorry, I lost the will to live a bit into it.
I'd wait til renewal. Its not a claim on your policy.0 -

You originally posted that you thought the OP was "looking 4 an excuse not to tell them "
Now you have read the question, instead of standing corrected, you now tell the OP to ignore the sound advice given, and not to tell "porkies"!
The clause requiring immediate notification refers to any incidents that could lead to a claim on the policy.
THe clause requiring notification at renewal refers to any other incidents on other policies.
You also now claim to want to save the OP's wallet, but I have pointed out that unneccessarily notifying the insurer mid term could hit the OP's wallet by way of an unnecessary mid term policy change admin fee!0 -

I would think that if the OP waits 'till renewal & then removes the OH from the policy there will be no need to inform her insurance at all.Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -
Right, called the insurer as there were so many opinions here, they have made a note on my policy about the accident and there was no cost. Obviously at renewal the premium may go up but in that case OH will be coming off my policy as he's only on it for emergencies really.
When I asked for clarification on the terms, it was like Quentin said, top one is for anything to do with my car and policy, bottom one is for anything else. I did point out it wasn't entirely clear.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0
