Do you need a tv licence to watch the shopping channels?

I haven't had a tv lience for about a year, since they told me I didn't need one.
I can't get digital tv because my aerial isn't right and I can't afford to have it changed
I can't say I've missed the tv much to be honest. I still occassionally watch my favourite programs on i-player or 4od but even that is getting less and less now, especially since the i-player had problems and I couldn't series record anymore. I don't know if that has been fixed yet or not.
Anyway, can anyone tell me if its legal or not to watch the shopping channels or is that still classed as live tv?
TIA

Who told you you didn't need one? Of course it's live TV-you need a licence to watch any channel in real time-whether the programme itself is live or recorded is irrelevant..
However, since the digital switchover is completing this autumn (only Tyne Tees and N. Ireland to go), you won't be able to receive any terrestial TV at all soon unless you get your aerial sorted. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
If it's on the TV in real time then it's live TV.0
