Double-check that your PC's motherboard has a PCI-E 16x slot, & make sure to purchase a PCI-E (not PCI) graphics card for the best results. Also, determine that the system's power supply (PSU) will be adequate (sorry, forgot to mention this one before!).

One of these PCI-E 256Mb 7600GTs starting at £62 would do nicely. The BFG 7600GT 256mb OC ('overclocked') card could be the best of the bunch for the price but it falls just outside your budget - it could drop under in a few days/weeks, so may be worth waiting for this to happen. Remember to choose the free delivery option at checkout to keep costs down. G

Thanks for the reply GG.....this Pc i am interested in..
    http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/125244/rb/26269901110..
    has a....
    350 Watt ATX/BTX Delta RoHs 120mm PSU!

Is that enough to handle the two cards you recommended?? (not intrested in overclocking)

I think i could stretch to a fiver more for the second one!!!

Is that a better card than the first??

Thanks for reminding me which one you're going for :).

It looks OK for a PCI-E 7600GT without upgrading the PSU - I'm going purely by the user reviews posted.

The 1st 7600GT would be fine too - it's doubtful most users would notice any difference between the two. G

Spent alot of time last night reading reviews of these cards ...they seem excellent value!..
    however..
alot of reviewer's said that the fans on them are very noisy!!

this then grabbed my attention...http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/111199/rb/26652189241...is it worth paying a few quid more for this card??

    Is it a better card???
    Thanks.

No, a 7600GS (silent or not) is not a better card performance-wise - even with double the memory of a 7600GT.

Some users/gamers are fussy about a little extra sound coming from their systems, so moan about it or get a quieter GPU cooling system. You may not even notice this sound, so it could be a waste to forfeit the greater performance of a 7600GT.

I would go for the 7600GT & get a quieter cooler only if the sound seemed unbearable. G

Well I just found, for £4 more than you were willing to pay for the silent Asus 7600GS, you can get a much better Sapphire X1950 GT for £89.

The X1950 GT is even better than a 7600GT - see benchmark comparisons between it's slightly better X1950 Pro cousin & a 7600GT (only change the 'Choose benchmark' dropdown selection).

A review (you can google for more if required) - see the last page if you don't want to read too much (they've also provided a BIOS update to reduce the fan's noise!). My only concern is whether the PSU will be adequate or not. G

    450w PSU unfortunately...

Looks like the 7600GT for me!!

Would you recommend more fans in the tower??

Will this keep the 7600GT cooler??

Not having to use its own fan as much??

    Thanks.

EDIT:...just found this with a Zalman cooler (read good things about their fans) is this worth the extra??

Yeah, unfortunately (unless you're willing to upgrade the PSU, but that may be unnecessary added expense).

Would you recommend more fans in the tower??
No. But yes, if you want to keep things cooler in the case, can physically fit more & control their speed - as more fans generally means more noise (without filters, they also mean more dust build up inside the case).

Will this keep the 7600GT cooler?? Not having to use its own fan as much??
It probably will, but its fan noise won't reduce. To reduce fan noise (if any) you have to find a way to slow it down - software like RivaTuner (tutorial here) can do this, but it's not without its risks.

EDIT:...just found this with a Zalman cooler (read good things about their fans) is this worth the extra?? http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/119686
This is purely your choice. Personally I wouldn't bother, unless the 'noise' became unbearable (also see post #27). G
