I'm a little disappointed at the delay in my area
Exactly, I'd imagine we all are.
However, the poster attempting to take the matter to Trading Standards and the ASA is extreme to say the least.

Did Virgin entice Bobqasl to subscribe to Virgin on the basis that his broadband speed would be doubled at a definite time? I doubt it!

I'd say it's pretty much impossible to officially complain about the delay of an improvement to service that Virgin are providing (eventually) for free!

The dates were guidelines only, much like most of BT's Infinity dates that are continously moving all over the place as they fill out the rollout plans.

Not sure why you are getting so shirty about something which you will be receiving for free?

Sure it is free because the prices all went up in April, our bill went up by £5PM.

Anyway mine was due for October this year, after it was pushed back from July, now it says March - August next year.....

And the two nearest towns just 10 minutes either way were upgraded in April...

Now almost all of us are being told by Virgin Media it will be Dec 12 to May 13 before this will be available.

That's a rather sweeping statement to make , do you actually know 'almost all' of Virgin's customers then!

For what it's worth mine got upgraded on schedule as promised from 50 to 100Mb.
  • You get nothing for free, that's why subscriptions go up and up year in year out. Saying that though I would rather a delay in receiving the speed increase than have them apply it in my area to see huge problems for everyone!

People may complain about the delay but they would complain a hell of a lot more if their connections went down the pan because the network couldn't cope with the increased speeds.

Misleading advertsing, might be worth submitting a complaint to Advertising Standards Agency, be proactive more than British stiff upper lip.
